Parents need to know that like Twilight the movie and the Twilight Saga book series, this song from the New Moon movie soundtrack is OK for tweens but a bit too much for young children: it's fairly clean throughout yet includes one light mention of sex.
Indie rockers Death Cab for Cutie have contributed a song called MEET ME ON THE EQUINOX to the soundtrack for New Moon, the second film in the incredibly popular Twilight series. The track's lyrics are in line with the plot of both the movie and the book on which it was based: like Edward and Bella, they describe a guy and a girl in love who are facing changes in their relationship. Though the band avoids using explicit language when weaving their tale, they do make one reference to the bedroom: "Let me lay beside you, darling, let me be your man / And let our bodies intertwine but always understand / That everything, everything ends."
For more than a decade, Death Cab for Cutie has occupied the indie-music spotlight, gaining critical acclaim for their often dark, always piercingly honest lyrics about love (or lack of it). The band is therefore a good fit with the equally brooding Twilight series, producing a foreboding song that fits the series' mood to a T. On its own, however, the song is somewhat lackluster compared to the group's earlier records, offering less imaginative vocals and arrangements than previous tunes.
