A warning to all those who were as leery as I initially was: you don't have to be a devoted fan of The OC to enjoy this phenomenal compilation of lesser-known artists. From the wry humor in the song Popular Mechanics For Lovers ("But all I ever find my love/Are clichés that don’t rhyme"); to the sweet, romantic musing in Maybe I'm Amazed ("Maybe I'm afraid of the way I love you/Maybe I'm amazed at the way you pulled me out of time"); to the haunting desperation of A Lack of Color ("On your machine I slur a plea for you to come home/But I know it's too late/I should have given you a reason to stay"), this CD won't fail to enrapture young people eager to hear something outside the mainstream.
