What parents need to know

Parents need to know that although NOTHIN' ON YOU is largely a rap song, it's clean overall, with just one mention of "hell" and no references to sex, substances, or violence. While B.o.B does mention "chasing skirts" in his earlier days, he's committed to just one girl in this single.

  • While B.o.B. talks about dating around in his past, he only has eyes for one girl in this song -- a positive message about commitment.
  • In his short time in the spotlight thus far, B.o.B. has kept his personal life clean.

What's the story?

Nothin' On You is the hot rap/R&B single from Atlanta-born Bobby Ray Simmons, who goes by the stage name B.o.B. After putting out mix tapes and EPs for a few years, B.o.B was discovered by infamous rapper T.I. and signed to Atlantic Records, which will release his first full-length CD, B.o.B Presents the Adventures of Bobby Ray. The CD will feature this single about a guy who's finally found the right girl after "chasing skirts" in his past. With no references to sex, drugs, violence, or swearing beyond the word "hell," the song is a good choice for young kids who are into rap.

Is it any good?

From the first sweet notes sung by guest vocalist Bruno Mars, Nothin' On You draws you in. The song's infectious hook combines a snappy tempo with airy synth beats -- an excellent compliment to B.o.B's crisp delivery of his rhymes and Mars' super smooth vocals. The end result lingers in the listener's mind long after the song is over.

What families can talk about

  • Families can talk about the benefits of being in a committed romantic relationship. What are five positive things about sharing your life with just one person, as opposed to dating several at one time?

  • Despite the many positives about committed romantic relationships, should kids be of a certain age before they enter into them?

Bruno Mars hater :)
I really really really don't like Bruno Mars but, there's no way to aviod this song. So it doen't really matter if you like it or not you are forced to hear it.

good song. the first b.o.b song i ever got.
nothin on you cusses once, and its one of the mildest ones ever, and its rated the same as airplanes which shouldnt even be on for 12 but still it says the same cuss plus 1 s word and is rated the same? commonsense has a serious problem with their ratings.

Appropriate Song
In this song B.O.B and Bruno Mars sing about loving a girl so much, and it's really sweet.

This song is great and clean but there is one sexual reference that the review forgot. It's the part B.O.B raps, "and you're wild when you ain't got nothin' on". Besides a few bad parts this song is great for Tweens who love all types of music including hip hop like me!

Great song, iffy content
The only thing you have to worry about is the fast rap part "...and you wow when you ain't got nothin on."
