What parents need to know

Parents need to know that this album is the soundtrack for a movie that centers on a double agent's life of professional killing. That said, other than the theme song "Another Way to Die," the album is strictly instrumental. "Another Way to Die" does include references to killing, but nothing graphic or obscene. It's more about not trusting anyone because they could be your "way to die."

  • "Another Way to Die" talks about not trusting anyone because they could be your "way to die." The movie is about a professional killer.
  • Lyrics in "Another Way to Die" include "I know the player with the slick trigger finger" and "Another tricky little gun/giving solace to the one." Instrumental tracks include titles like "Somebody Wants to Kill You" and "Have You Ever Killed Someone?" The movie itself sure to be full of violence.
  • Not applicable.

What's the story?

After his successes with the soundtracks for Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough, Die Another Day, and Casino Royale, it's no surprise that Grammy Award-winning film composer David Arnold would return for the next installment in the Bond franchise, QUANTUM OF SOLACE. Jack White and Alicia Keys collaborate on the White-penned theme song, "Another Way to Die."

Is it any good?

If the action-packed trailers aren't enough to get you to see Quantum of Solace, then the soundtrack might be. If you're a 007 fan, the very first notes will get your blood boiling. All instrumental except for the theme song, the album is filled with striking strings and horns and infused with the legendary Bond theme in all the right places.

That said, Jack White and Alicia Keys' duet on "Another Way to Die" comes up a little short, and on its own might fall flat on its face. But tied to the ultra-cool image of 007, it might just receive the solace it needs.
