Rated R is an awe-inspiring album that puts amateur works to shame. The shameless lyrics, the mature and proper vocals, and the dark messages convey this is an adult album. Sure, you can spoon-feed your kids the generic music all you want, but a real, raw, piece of literature is rated R. For profanity, there are 12 profanes total (5 f words, 4 s words, 1 n word, and 1 b word). G4L, Rockstar 101, and Wait your turn all have swear words (G4L and Rockstar 101 have more than one swear word). For sexual content, Rude Boy is the only track that contains sexual activity, but it is very explicit. "I like the way you touch me there, I like the way you pull my hair. Imma let ya be rider, giddie up, giddie up, Imma let ya take me higha, we can go a little longer,". For violence, in the song Russian Roulette the lyrics convey violence, "Pull the trigger/Take the gun and count to three". Also at the end of Russian Roulette the sound of a gun shot is heard. In G4L the first and last lines are "I lick the gun when I'm done cuz' I know that revenge is sweet". In Fire Bomb at the end you can actually hear a fire bomb, although it is not about killing people/injuring people. It is a life bomb, a metaphor. There is no alcohol or drug references I believe. Consumerism is also not an issue. I recommend this album for 15+ based on subject matter. But an edited copy is also sold (CAUTION: The song Russian Roulette does not censor the gun shot on the edited CD, also the lyrics in Russian Roulette are still audible). The most inappropriate tracks on this CD are: G4L, Rude Boy, and Rockstar 101. All in all, this is an amazing album with clever lyrics, awe-inspiring vocals, and a great message. 4 out of 5. Issues: Mature themes, Profanity, Sexual Content, Negative messages
