What parents need to know

Parents need to know that "Right There" is a very sexy song, with the majority of its lyrics including not-so-subtle allusions to sexual situations. Though there's no profanity or extremely graphic descriptions, its steamy lyrics are definitely too mature for kids and younger tweens.

  • Lots of steamy sex talk; not inherently bad, but just not for kids.
  • The actions included in this song are meant for adults.
  • Not applicable.
  • About as sultry as it gets without going into hardcore territory: "Come correct to make a sweat, it’s making us wet / Say my name, say my name, positions we change."

What's the story?

"RIGHT THERE" is the racy single from Nicole Scherzinger, smokin'-hot lead singer of the Pussycat Dolls, and notoriously raunchy rapper 50 Cent. True to their reps, the artists get pulses racing once again in this extra sexy song, which is about as graphic as possible without using profanity or earning a Parental Advisory label. In light of lines like "Me like the way that he put it on me / Me like the way that he push up on me / Me like the way that he goin’ down," the tune is clearly out of bounds for younger audiences.

Is it any good?

"Right There" has an infectious tone that's infused with both R&B and reggae flavors. Scherzinger's solid, upbeat vocals fit well with this formula, with 50 Cent's mellow guest rhymes rounding out the sound.

What families can talk about

  • Families can talk about the similarities and differences between Nicole Scherzinger's music as a member of the Pussycat Dolls and a solo artist.

  • Do you think she should have used the opportunity of a solo career to try out a different musical style? Why or why not?

  • Do you think she should have used the opportunity of a solo career to try out a different musical style? Why or why not?

  • Why do so many R&B songs have sexy lyrics? Can you think of some examples of songs that don't?

More like 11 an under:)
This song isn't for 14 and under, I don't believe. If it were to come on in the car, we wouldn't change it, even if my 10 year old sister is in the car. I really like the song, I think it has a nice beat...and it's not that bad..
