What's the story?
This fun compilation album doesn't sound like your average kid's music. And that's because it's not. The tracks on ROUGH GUIDE TO LATIN MUSIC FOR CHILDREN were chosen by hundreds of schoolchildren in England as their favorites from among dozens of songs from all over Latin America, resulting in an eclectic mix of Cuban son, Brazilian jazz, and Argentinean tango.

Kids will love jumping around to the lively music from different Latin cultures, The artists, as usual for the Rough Guide series, are world-class, and their diversity (from an Andean folk group to a Colombian salsero) brings home just how rich the spectrum of Latin American music is.

Families can talk about how the music of Latin America is so indelibly linked to its culture. It's fun to try some dance moves to these stirring tunes. Also, several of the songs come out of the slave tradition of the Afro-Caribbean coast.
