What parents need to know

Parents need to know that there's an attempt to address some serious, important, and tough subjects such as child abduction.

  • Good messages for kids about staying safe.
  • Only in a "Hey kids, let's learn how to keep ourselves safe in a scary world" context.
  • Not applicable.

What's the story?

Aly & AJ's debut CD, INTO THE RUSH, features mostly original songs by Disney's current flavor of the month, Alyson and Amanda Joy Michalka. Marketed a la Hilary Duff and Lindsay Lohan, the appealing sisters manage to fit nicely into the Disney mold while demonstrating that they have some genuine musical talent and a commitment to gentle messages of social consciousness too. Two of the best tracks are cover tunes: Aly & AJ's versions of the Lovin' Spoonful's "Do You Believe in Magic" and Katrina and the Waves' "Walking on Sunshine."

Is it any good?

Despite banal lyrics, Aly & AJ's originals pack a promising punch with messages about some tough subjects. "I Am One of Them" addresses child kidnapping, and the girls claim a commitment to educating young people about the need to look out for one another and learning techniques to keep themselves safe and empowered in an increasingly dangerous world. Spirited and energetic, the girls deliver strong vocal performances and age-appropriate concern about the world around them.

Loved it!
I've been to an Aly and AJ concert, and I really do enjoy their music. This CD's great-- the best tracks are "Rush" and "Collapsed", and I also really liked "On The Ride" and "Chemicals React". (: I really can't believe this was Disney! XD

All of the songs are great with a catchy beat.
I love this cd. Its perfectly clean and Aly & AJ have a clean image. Parents won't have to worry about letting their kids listen to this cd. Most of the songs are about enjoying life and standing up for yourself, but also about keeping yourself safe and happy.

Awesome!
I loved this CD I think this is the first CD ever that I listened to that dosen't say kiss me or anything like that. It was awesome. All the songs are so good. And if you liked this CD you should buy the DVD Aly and AJ On the Ride. I can't wait till they get their new CD out on August 8th. If you haven't listned to this CD yet buy it. All the songs have different beats, tempos, and melodies. So your sure to find at LEAST 1 song that you like out of the 14. Buy this CD today!

Good CD
I have to say that Aly and AJ aren't my favorite singers in the world, but they're pretty good. They're better than a lot of the people who have come out of Disney lately (Hilary Duff, Lindsay Lohan). My favorite song on the album is "Collapsed". "Out of the Blue" and "Something More" are good songs, too. There's no offensive content here, so this is a great album for all girls old enough to understand the lyrics.

Good music, good messages
Finally a girls band that I will let my 9 year old daughter listen to! These girls talk about important issues and about identity and being accepted. They talk about boys, but do not promote promiscuity or get too sexual in their lyrics. In fact, one of their songs is about slowing down in the boy/girl relationship. We had the privilege of seeing these girls perform at Disneyland and they explained how their song "On the Ride" with a line that says "Life is amazing with you on the ride," is about each other (They are sisters). The style is pop with a rock flavor and is good enough that even my husband admits that he likes it! I really hope these two continue making albums and continue to keep it clean and innocent.
