What parents need to know

Parents need to know that this CD is living proof that excellent contemporary rock can be accomplished without profanity or violence. Use it to show your kids how this can be done, and to inspire the budding musicians in your family.

Positive messages: Skillful songwriting and musicianship are what this CD is all about--in that sense, it serves as a wonderful role model for future artists.
Violence: One reference to violence in the title song-- "I'm gonna buy this gun and start a war, If you can tell me something worth fighting for"--feels metaphorical and unthreatening.
Sex: No blatant sexuality here.
Language: Language is appropriate for all ages.
Consumerism: No particular commercial overtones.

What to talk about

Talk to your kids
Families can talk about the elements of this CD that make it such a strong performance. What does it take to deliver a critically appreciated album?

What's the story?

What's the story?
The members of Coldplay -- a British quartet -- understand the concept of the musical hook far better than most of their contemporaries, and their delivery lives up to their vision. A RUSH OF BLOOD TO THE HEAD is soulful, moody, and compelling. You'll hear Pink Floyd and Beatles influences, as well as some downright decent poetry. The whole package is absolutely exquisite.

Is it any good?

Is it any good?

The writing is imaginative, and the musicianship is excellent throughout -- magestic and emotional without ever veering over the line into pretentiousness. Play it more than once, especially if you have budding rock musicians in the house. This nearly flawless album is likely to get under your skin, as well as theirs.

Great Album
This is certainely one of the best albums I have heard. It may not initially appeal to you, but after a few listens it most likely will be a favorite. Also listen to their new one X and Y, not quite as good, but great nevertheless.

Yay!
Coldplay ROCKS!!! I love their song 'Clocks'. They have great lyrics and a great beat to their music.

good band-accually awesome band
i love the songs of coldplay they are awesome and any kid could listen to it and no violent is in in like today's music

I have recently started listening to more mainstream music and this album came up. It is pleasant. I wouldn't brag about it but it is good nonetheless (that is good for someone who hasn't listened to mainstream in 8 or 9 years).

COLDPLAY Rocks!
What can i say about Coldplay. Their first album was a refreshing piece of musical originality. They have rich songs that really get you. Yellow on Parachutes is simply one of the best songs of the last 10 yrs. Their second album, (A rush of blood) could have easily gone to the other way like most sophmore albums, but they did it right! Clocks, God put a Smile, Politik, Scientist are all great songs, not a single song on this album isnt worth listining to. You dont even have to turn it off infront of the kiddies. I highly recommend either COLDPLAY album, infact, get them both! Cant wait for the third!

Thumbs Up
Coldplay is one of the most (or in my opinion maybe the most) talented band around today. Their music is completely clean. They're sound is not necessarily for everyone but if you enjoy this type of music it is definitely the album to buy. I'd also check out their other cds "Patachutes" and my personal favorite "X&Y"

Amazing
This CD is my favorite, out of all the Coldplay CD's. Every song is worth listening to more than once. It's almost flawless. The vocals, lyrics, and music as a whole is amazing. Anyone can enjoy this CD.

Coldplay - A Rush of Blood to the Head - Great
Coldplay is an alternative band for all ages, they don't curse in there music and non of it has serious violent references to it. As for the music: Great. They don't only have 1-2 good songs, the whole album is worth listening too. No more skipping songs till you find your favorite.

Best for 13+
Great album-wonderful work! It's nice to see music that is not all technologically produced like most pop and dance albums.

A Coldplay masterpiece.
It's a clean masterpiece, although teens are the only ones who will really appreciate such masterful work. It's rather deep for, say, kids younger than 10. But it's still clean and fine to play around them.
