What parents need to know

Parents need to know that there is just a bit of teasy sexual innuendo on this CD. It also has a (mild) girl-power message.

What's the story?

The Veronicas, Lisa and Jess Origliasso, are 20-year-old identical twins from Brisbane, Australia, who seem to have taken the music industry by storm on the basis of their impressive demo and prolific songwriting. The dozen tunes on THE SECRET LIFE OF THE VERONICAS are fresh and fun -- teasy, flirty, and sometimes pretty clever -- perfect for any tween girl to sing along to. Dark-eyed brunette beauties, the twins are featured in CD-insert photos designed to make them look like regular kids you might hang out with after school. The girlfriend image carries over into their songs, which are accessible power-pop with just the teensiest post-punk edge, addressing love-and-loss themes familiar to teenagers everywhere.

Is it any good?

The twins' voices are used to their best advantage, in mixes that highlight their emotive qualities and cushion occasional nasal whininess with lush instrumental arrangements. Big guns helping out on this album certainly don't hurt: Writing and producing credit go to an all-star crew that includes Billy Steinberg (Madonna), Clif Magness (Avril Lavigne), Max Martin (Britney Spears), Dr. Luke (Kelly Clarkson), Don Gilmore (Linkin Park), and Toby Gad (Enrique Iglesias). The twins manage to let personality and talent shine through these all-star assists, and the result is a charming debut that will give Lindsay, Jessica, and Ashlee a run for their money.

A must-hear CD for tweens and teens of both sexes.
I'm a boy, and I LOVED this cd. So typically that means girls will love it to. 4ever, their first single, is full of razor sharp teen pop-rock attitude. The only songs I didn't like were Secret and Mother Mother. Secret has some sexual referance. Another is drinking refrence, in When It All Falls Apart. And 4ever has a line in it of which states, "and I wanna spend the night with you." But ofcourse, it isn't for five or six year olds. I'm 11 and the CD hasn't left my stero since I got it. Writing 9 of the 12 songs on the cd its awsome. (special edition 11 of 14). But over all, on a scale of 1-10 I give it a thousand+!

This CD was in 2006. Very poppy sound. They weren't real positive then and since then have gone seriously south. Word of caution to any parents thinking of allowing their kids to entertain their music. The sex is suggestive as in boy/girl, girl/girl etc.

These girls can sing...
When I first heard "4ever" by the Veronicas, I loved them! But I kind of thought that 'yeah, they're just another pop sensation that doesn't really have much talent...' but after seeing them perform live I was blown away!!! These girls are some of the best singers to come around in a LONG time. With their beautiful harmonies and Jess' raspy rock voice, their talent soars... After seeing them live I decided to buy the c.d. I LOVE IT!!!! There are soo many great songs on it. My favorite include: 4ever, When it all Falls Apart, Revolution, Secret, and Heavily Broken!! These aussie girls are a true talent that only come around every once-and-a-while, so buy their c.d. and you'll know what I mean!

Completely clean, but a bit bland...
Some tracks on this album are catchy and likeable, while others are somewhat bland. The Veronicas are both very appealing singers, and they both are better than a lot of pop singers that are popular right now. This is not a terrible CD, it's just not an exceptional one. Some good tracks are "Everything I'm Not" and "4ever"
