Parents need to know that the obvious lessons here have to do with learning dances and hands games. Both promote co-ordination, balance and a great sense of rhythm.
What's the story?
Complete with circle and clapping games, blues, rock, and funk, this album offers awesome music in thrilling grooves from beginning to end. Where funky adult music can sound great but contains questionable language, this album will have everyone shaking their everything under the pleasant cover of children's songs.
Is it any good?
It is difficult to name the best track but certainly the title song "Shake A Tail Feather" and "Ask Grandma" would head the list. The wealth of brilliant musicians who put this album together include Taj Mahal and Linda Tillery and the Cultural Heritage Choir. Their obvious talents are matched by excellent instrumentals and engineering.
Few albums do a better of job of infusing joy and requiring dance. Some listeners will find childhood memories brought to life in the most moving way, others will wish they had been brought up way back when. Whether or not you remember the Hand Jive, Skate, Duck, Boogaloo and Shing-A-Ling, this infectious music will have you hooked.
