What’s the Story?
Known for churning out dance-oriented rap tracks, club-fave Flo Rida is back with another one: SUGAR, a song about a guy who can't get enough of his girl's kissable, "candy"-like lips. As the tune goes on, however, we learn that Flo Rida's girl uses her lips for a lot more than kissing, with the rapper giving graphic descriptions of oral sex between the two. These lyrics led the record company to slap a parental advisory sticker on the song (as well as the full-length album on which it appears, entitled
R.O.O.T.S.).
Is It Any Good?
In a club, where one danceable, similar-sounding song melts into the next, "Sugar
" surely fits in. While the track's synthesizer-heavy beats and Flo Rida's delivery are appealing enough for dancing, they don't make for a particularly exceptional song that transcends others on the scene. The tune's been-there, done-that theme of graphic sex knocks it further down the originality index.
