That's So Raven Too! (by Various Artists, Soundtrack)

common sense media says

Kid-friendly, perky fun.

parents & educators say

What parents need to know

Parents need to know that this is a kid-friendly collection of perky songs featuring Raven Symone, as well as some other heavy-hitters. One downside: Kids will be greeted by a Disney interface when they pop the CD in the computer and asked to sign up for a mailing list -- but they can get around this.

Positive messages: Gently positive messages about friendship.
Violence: Not applicable.
Sex: Not applicable.
Language: Squeaky clean.
Consumerism: Disney's usual relentless overkill in the cross-promotion department.
Drinking, drugs, & smoking: Not applicable.

What to talk about

Talk to your kids
Families can talk about the relentless Disney marketing techniques, and whether or not they are effective. What are some of the markers of a Disney product? What words do you associate with Disney?

What's the story?

What's the story?
With most CDs, your computer's default media player starts the music automatically, right? Not so with THAT'S SO RAVEN TOO! Instead, an interface asks if you want to sign up for a mailing list and Internet options. Once again, the Disney marketing machine is set on "Overkill" mode, doing its best to roll over the lively, perky fun. Get past the marketers though (we started our player manually to do so) and you'll find a delightful collection of songs performed by terrific singers. Light-hearted and danceable, about half the songs feature Raven Symone on lead or duet vocals; the rest features the likes of Jesse McCartney, Aly & AJ, and even Aretha Franklin. This collection provides enough variety to be enjoyed by kids even if they are not fans of the popular TV show.

Is it any good?

Is it any good?

High points include the amazing Aretha Franklin, of course, on "Respect" and the infectiously danceable "Let's Groove" by B5. That's So Raven, Too! provides the perfect pajama-party or tween dance party ambiance. And you can play it without signing up for Disney's mailing list.

cool music for cool girls
this CD is filled with good clean music that girls 7-15 may like. I will say I haven't heard the whole CD, but what I heard seems good for children and I approve the makeing and producting fund for this CD.

Great CD!
I thought this was an excellent choice for a CD to get! Though Raven expresses her feelings through ways I think shouldn't be heard by your kids. I'm listening to it right this second covering my ears at the bad parts.
