Parents need to know that there aren't any surprises in this Taylor Swift single. Just like most of Swift's other hits, it's a song about young love and the joys of youthful crushes, sprinkled with bits of her trademark self-awareness. Although the song is about love, there's no need to worry about sexy stuff here as it's all perfectly innocent. However, parents should make a note that although this single is safe for nearly all ages, the movie it's inspired by, Valentine's Day, is rated PG-13.
Positive messages:Basic love song doesn't really have any profound messages. The romantic theme is simple and a bit self-effacing. "You told me I was pretty when I looked like a mess, today was a fairytale."
Positive role models:Taylor Swift has handled herself well in the public eye thus far.
Sex:There is only one line that has any reference to romantic interaction: "But can you feel this magic in the air? It must have been the way you kissed me." This line is repeated several times throughout the song.
Consumerism:Since the single is off of the soundtrack to Valentine's Day, the song can be heard promoting the movie and Swift's acting role in the flick, as well.

Perfect, clean songs for everyone to enjoy!
My four year old loves Taylor Swift and I let her listen to it because she's mature. So know your younger kids if they want to listen to it. She has a little sexual references but none that would offend or be rude. I also like Taylor Swift because she handles herself well in the public eye.
yet again Taylor swift turns out a good song (though i must admit it is pretty pop/love song cliché i mean really?!?yet another song where Taylor falls in love?? come ON, how many BF's is she gonna GO through??!!!)ok, rant over, but really! other than that its a good song, its hard to find a good song these days too( that is not obscene)
This song is perfact for all ages, simply because she uses her words respectfully and knows what she's saying when she says it.She doesnt make it seem to over dramatic the the worst thing she says it that she was kissed ,wich isn't a big deal at all. This song is very great!
There's a lyric in the song that goes "Today was a fairy tale/you were the prince/ I used to be a damsel in distress.". It seems that you can't be happy without a guy. It would be a decent song without that one line.
I debated between "Pretty Bad" and "Fine"
As a song , it's not bad but the lyric is down right awful.
It just keeps saying "Today Is a Fairy Tale" over and over and over, The verses even repeat.
I think Taylor is a great songwriter and I was relieved to read that she didn't write this one. Perhaps the composer had to rush on finishing this one and wasn't able to really polish it.
A romantic and brilliant master piece from Taylor Swift
Today was a Fairytale was a lovely and romantic song in which i believe is the best song Taylor Swift has done so far. Unlike celebrities like Miley Cyrus who write sexy, sultry and just plain rude songs in which could be listened by young children and causes bad language and rude behavior, taylor swift is careful in what words and the message she puts in to her songs in which creates not only songs that are wonderful to listen to but songs that are actually not containing bad words or messages in which could alarm and damage our community. It is a greatly written master piece and a enchanting melody for those with a romantic heart.
I haven't seen the movie, but I like the song. It's about romance, (with lines like, "Can you feel this magic in the air/it must have been the way you kissed me) but it's innocent.
