Avril isn't a punk but at least listening to this album will make all poseur punks (fans of simple plan, ect.) extremely mad. We all know how annoying poseurs are. This album was produced by a member of the band Our Lady Peace too so that is nice. I don't think you should call Avril a "punk." She is no Joey Ramone, no Joe Strummer, no Sid Vicious, no Henry Rollins, no Jerry Only, ect. Well at least I can tolerate her music far more then I can tolerate most of the other pop and posuer bands out there.

Avril will grow on you.
This album is very real life. Her lyrics are a little dark, but they make you think. She uses some mild language, but nothing too shocking. I would be comfortable with my teenager listening.

Strong album from a great artist
Avril has done a great job with this CD. She has been able to record great music with good melodies without having any really bad problems. There is only one "s" and "a" word. Musically this album is slightly darker than "Let Go" and has more of a rock edge. Lyrically she's not perfect, but has seemed to grow since her debut. Overall I think this album is really good; all of my friends and I have thoroughly enjoyed it.

Wow
This particular album was impressive. I like Avril's music so I was a bit tearful when I heard the swear words, but there are only two. I don't want to repeat them.I think the best song on the album is DON'T TELL ME. Why? It's awesome-makes me feel all young again. Sex is not an issue-in fact, it's good stuff! Whatever the weather, Avril's for you.

Avril Rulez!
I don't care if she isn't 'real' punk, she rox! She wrote all these songs w/o prefessional help & they all have a message. My favorite song of all time is 'Nobody's Home', probably cause I can relate it up to a point, & 'Don't Tell Me' is about a girl who won't sleep with her boyfriend, & it's really nice to see something not promoting sex.

Cry me a River
I dont like Avril Lavigne. All she sings about is her boyfriends breaking up with her. The lyrics in any of her albums sound like a child came up with them. I dont think any self-respecting person should listen to this. They should put WARNING: HEAD MAY EXPLODE.

As good as her last one
It does seem like Avril is trying too hard for this album but it's still a bit of alright!

Avril Lavinge is a good rocker, and has clean songs, which is a surprise with the new rock music 2day. This is a good CD for teens...I liked it.

Excellent!!
Avril Lavigne is a genius creating this inspiring, yet true album about real life-and how she decides to live it. A true album that doesn't come out fake-sounding, a general outstanding album by a truly great Canadian artist.

Very Good
This is a great CD you must check it out. Avril is edgy and outspoken (in a good way) and tha's what makes this sooooo great. Don't worry about your kids listening to her music it's NOT bad at all.

Mature but stil the same Avril
The sophomore album of the Canadian singer shows us how fame and money isn’t enough to be completely and utterly happy. Why? Because the lyrics written by Avril show us the bitter side of the girl’s relationships or experiences. There’s only a couple of optimistic or love songs. The incorporation of the piano as one of the main instruments to some songs is something to point out, as the melodies with it sound much more grown up than in her first album, Let Go. Although most of the songs are heavier than the ones in the first record, there’s unforgettable pop anthems like My Happy Ending or Don’t Tell me which put the singer in the map in countries where she hadn’t reached with her music with Let Go (which weren’t many). The most emotional song of the record is Slipped Away, which she wrote for her late grandfather.

Get Avril lavigne Under Your Skin!
From the title alone, many were left guessing exactly what this album would contain. And the fact that one of the least rockiest tracks, “Don’t Tell Me” was released first left many believing this would be a near clone of her debut record in it’s style. But infact, this album couldn’t be any more different than “Let Go”. Avril very nearly turns “emo” in her rockiest album to date. To this very day, “Take Me Away”, although unreleased, remains as my favourite and most beloved track. The loud guitars, Avril’s screams, the bashing drums: it was very obvious that Avril’s cliched teenage hysterics had just been immortalised for eternity. If I had to describe this album in one word, all I would have to say is “amazing”. The very first time I put the CD into my stereo, I found myself worrying for Avril’s inner mentality. “Together” is simply brilliant. To help you get the gist of it, here are the opening lines, which are sung by a highly emotional young woman: “Something just isn't right. I can feel it inside. The truth isn't far behind me: I'm living a lie”. She continues with this pessimism through “Slipped Away”, written for her deceased grandfather, along with “Forgotten”, and “My Happy Ending”. Ms. Lavigne only manages to punch out a couple of up beat tracks, in the form of “He wasn’t” and “Who Knows“, the former easily being the better of the two. It is now clear that this is the road Avril would take in years to come. Still, while we all now know that there was infact happiness on the horizon, none could have guessed. In “Under My Skin”, Avril Lavigne created the single most hard-hitting, emotional record of 2004. If you haven’t already, I suggest that the moment you finish reading this, you get your hands on a copy of it as fast as possible. This album deserves no less than five stars.

She Gets Under Your Skin
So you were expecting Lavigne to go pop 360°? Well, sorry to disappoint you. Two years after her multi-million selling debut album, Let Go, Avril Lavigne returns darker and harder. With more control over the album processing, the Complicated singer had the last word when it came to who would have worked with her on her sophomore effort. Butch Walker (ex-Marvellous Three and producer of many hit-selling artists), Ben Moody (ex-Evanescence), best friend Evan Taubenfeld, Raine Maida (Our Lady Peace) and newly found friend Chantal Kreviazuk helped Lavigne make Under My Skin a more mature yet still solid album. There are no Nobody's Fool's in this record. What you get is piano-driven rock songs like Together and Forgotten, rock ballads like How Does It Feel, and a pop sound that is a level up the usual bubblegum crap. Even the lyrics have matured. The album's title itself (Under My Skin) is a premise. Lavigne bares more feelings and tells us more about herself. In How Does It Feel, she asks herself, how does it feel to be different from me? In Slipped Away, Lavigne confesses, I wish that I could see you again, I know that I can't, while mourning the death of her grandfather. But Under My Skin is not depressing. In Freak Out, Lavigne sings, I'm going to live today like it's my last day. Where second albums are less solid and not worth it--whatever you want it to be--Skin wants to be an exception, and honestly, it succeeds in it.

Avril's best CD to date!
Avril matures from the "I'll do whatever I want" additude that she displays on Let Go on her sophomore release, Under My Skin. There are less teen angst songs and more romantic, meaningful rock ballads. A treat for everyone aged 10+. Parents - "Don't Tell Me" is about a girl who wants her boyfriend to know that she's not ready to have sex yet. Ass and s*** are each used once. Not a wise choice for anyone 9 and younger.
