What parents need to know

Parents need to know that there is no objectionable material here. This CD/DVD package is ideal for preschoolers who love to sing and dance.

What's the story?

Laurie Berkner, today's hottest children's recording artist, presents a DVD/CD package, WE ARE ...THE LAURIE BERKNER BAND, featuring a bunch of bouncy, catchy, happy tunes that toddlers -- and parents -- will likely find irresistible. Berkner obviously enjoys her work, and that's one of the main reasons why her music resonates with kids. Standouts include "Moon, Moon, Moon" for its gentle appeal and accompanying hand gestures and "Walk Along the River," a rock & roll number that will have parents tapping the steering wheel and kids pleasantly singing "Oooo Ahhh, Oooo Ahhh." Families may find it refreshing to see a real person (as opposed to an animated character) who doesn't rely on puppets and outlandish props to entertain.

Is it any good?

Many children's artists, producers, and record companies have come to believe that kids need to be attended to like they're at a circus. Berkner relies instead on her voice, her guitar, and those funny songs little kids enjoy hearing again and again. At her side on this DVD are two band members (more real people) and more than a few happy, smiling kids. Berkner's singing, songwriting, and arrangements are consistently pleasant.

What families can talk about

Families can talk about music basics. What are the different instruments you hear? Can you pick out the different voices? Can you tap along with the different tempos? This is a great album for parents and kids to sing along to together.

Great CD to enjoy with kids!
As someone who enjoys many different types of music, I found it difficult sometimes to listen to music I enjoy without worrying about some of the content. Then we found this CD. I can enjoy it and my children- 4 and 1, both really like it too. Make to mistake- I'm not jamming with Laurie Berkner when kids aren't in the car, but when they are, it's a very fun and enjoyable CD that you can hear over and over again without wanting to scream!
