What Parents Need to Know

About American Dragon: Jake Long

Parents need to know that some of the racial stereotypes are confusing. Though there is an attempt to present a representation of urban mixtures, there is not much respect in the characterization of cultural background. There can be violence against females in the fight scenes and some macho fronting by Jake.

    Somewhere in the middle

This is a OK tv show. Nothing special. It bores you after you watch it for awhile.

    OK for kids

I actually enjoyed watching this show. It was one of the few Disney Channel shows never shown on ABC. There are some issues that parents may not like with this show, however. First, there is fantasy violence in every episode of this show. Second, some social behavior in the show may not be OK for all kids. Despite that, I feel this show is appropriate for kids 8+. Currently it plays on Toon Disney.
