What Parents Need to Know

This review of Camp Lazlo was written by Joly Herman

Parents need to know that this show is centered completely around boys and has no educational content. Though the characters can get up to silly and harmless pranks, some of the plot lines can be a bit more questionable. In one episode a character pulls down every one's pants in the entire camp. That's the plot. You get the idea -- goofy jokes are the highlight of this cartoon. Some kids may be inclined to imitate some of these behaviors/pranks.

More on Camp Lazlo

What’s the Story?

What are the worst elements of being at summer camp? Peer pressure and humiliation. At CAMP LAZLO, the camp's director, Scout Master Lumpus, is the primary malignant, greedy character who yells at the campers and ends up getting his just desserts in the end. The Jelly Bean scouts of Camp Kidney are comprised of Lazlo the monkey, his friends Clam the rhinoceros, Raj the elephant, and other animal scout characters. The ringleader, Lazlo is a likeable enough character whose friends are pretty funny sidekicks. Since Lazlo is usually pitted against authority, he possesses the innocent rebellious quality of a trickster. However, when Scout Master Lumpus gets angry, his yelling can be frightening, even if Lazlo does not take him seriously.

Is It Any Good?

Potty humor, practical jokes, silly comments, and strange hazing rituals make CAMP LAZLO an unpredictable show for younger viewers. Though the funny moments are worth the giggle, getting to the punchline could teach kids some unwelcome lessons. You might want to preview this one before you allow your kids to watch.

Used to LOVE this show, but now I realize how bad it can be. But it is DEFINITELY not a safe camp for children.

    Annoying and obnoxious

Haven't you ever noticed how annoying, rude, bad, and obnoxious Cartoon Network's shows are? Yep, this is one of them. The potty language is NOT suitable for anyone. I don't care if you're a kid or an adult, it just shouldn't be acceptable. So, don't let your kid watch this show. It's basically pointless and dull. I don't even know what the creators of these shows are thinking! All they have to do is make a show that would actually interest a person, not be so rude and obnoxious, be clean, have a good story line, have a good message, and teach lessons. I know it sounds like a lot, but creators of these shows can pull it off. Believe me, they can.

This is not a safe camp for children

The show is very bad. All of the episodes have violence and potty humour. Some episodes have sex with a Girl Scout camper and Lazlo, and in one episode, Lazlo was nude, and it is a good thing it doesn't have pornography (to the animators). It was also a waste of our time and money. It was DISGUSTING. Also, Lazlo makes a meat beard and Edward pulls everyone's trousers down. It has bad behaviour. SAVE MONEY ON YOUR ELECTRIC BILL AND DO NOT LET YOUR KIDS WATCH THIS SHOW.

The humor in this show is kind of crass.

My family doesn't care for this one, and it is a little rude.

    THIS SHOW IS HOT!!!

Okay how they got potty humor out of this I have no clue. It's from they guy that created Rocko's Modern Life so it has to be good was my first thought and then I saw it and thought it was really really REALLY COOL!!! I dislike only one episode the rest I find quite good.

    I remembered being a kid!

If you ever went to summer camp ever in your life, you would love this show. This show was meant to be for adults and kids! I will tell you some of the fun and thrilling tales Lazlo and his pals have. Fishing, playing alien, hunting for snakes, go-kart racing, swimming, looking at a meteor, seeing leeches, pinecone sitting competitions(which are my fav competitions), looking fo rocks, treasure hunts, tree finding, marshmellow partys, dances, and so much more. I did most of these when I went to camp. In Camp Lazlo it is a story of a camp with boys in it. They are known as the Bean Scouts. I will name all the commen Bean Scouts. Lazlo the monkey. Raj the pink elephant. Clam the albino rhino. Edward the platapus(If you ever watched SpongBob,the same person who does plankton's voice did Edward's!) There are not just boys in the show but girls. If you are at Camp Kidney, ( Lazlo's Camp.) all you have to do is go across the lake to Acorn Flats. It is the camp of the squirrel scouts, a camp only made up of girls. The most commen squirrel scouts are Gretchen the alligator,Nina the giraffe, and Patsy the mongoose. Patsy has a major crush on Lazlo. There are some love shows though. Be a happy camper. I'm 13 and goes to a 7 mounth camp every year like Lazlo!

I see no problem in this show

Like all shows, this has small violence like people running into walls and whatnot. But this show actually gives a good message to all kids who watch it.It shows how completely different people can get along.I think this show is perfect for little kids!

    love it!!!!!!!!!!!

I luv Camp Lazlo! It is not a boys-only camp! They have girls but, they are not the center of the show, so what? There is no "potty" humor except that episode where that guy pulled down everyone's pants. Every kid show is somewhat like this! So what are you going to do, not going to let your kids watch Nick or Disney or Cartoon Network when they are made for kids???? Put some boundaries but, this is a kid's show for Pete's Sake!!!!!!!

I dont like it very much....

I allow my child to watch this show but, it's pretty stupid. The plot line is to pull pranks on people, is that a good lesson for a kid to learn? Not really. It's pretty clean but, a little bit of potty humor. I don't care if my child watches it because she knows better not to do those things.

great show brought to you by the creator of Rockos Modern Life

This show rocks! It is by Joe Murray who did Rocko's Modern Life so it has to be good! Some episodes can be gross like when the duck puled down everyones pants but it is pretty good though

lazlo is the best cartoon since `courage the cowardly dog`

This is an awsome cartoon where everyone goes to camp.. there is nothing wrong with it. I hope it never goes away like they did with my other fav cartoon: Courage the Cowardly Dog :(
