Parents need to know
Families can talk about aspiring artists'/performers' struggles. Did you realize how much hard work goes into trying to make it big? Are teens interested in pursuing this kind of career? How likely is it that someone can make a career as a dancer, actor, or singer? Do you think jealousy and competition are a natural part of this type of work, or do you think it could be different? How do you think Jennifer Lopez's involvement affects this show? What does the show have in common with other reality series? How is it different?
Message
Social Behavior:
Shows people working very hard for their goals. Competition is a big part of the show; some dancers handle that aspect professionally, while others seem very immature and catty.
Consumerism:
Lots of clothing labels and L.A. storefronts visible: Calvin Klein underwear band peeking out of a guy's pants, Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, Radio Shack, Abercrombie and Fitch, high-end cars.
Drugs/Alcohol/Tobacco:
Some social drinking possible.
Violence
Some verbal attacks and angry encounters.
Sex
Discussion of dating issues, including some references to sex. Some dance moves are very sexually suggestive. Dancers often wear very little.
Language
Lots of cursing. Some words are bleeped, but others, like "bitch," "p---y," and "ass" aren't.

Is it any good?
Aspiring dancers, actors, and others hoping for a shot in show business will recognize and appreciate the challenges that these performers face. For the rest of us, Dancelife offers a superficial guilty pleasure with celebs and eye candy galore.
