Why We Rated This on for Ages 10 and Up

What to watch out for

  • Messages:

Many of the brides-to-be come across as self-centered, spoiled, and image-driven as they hunt down "the perfect dress." To some, price is not an object, so budget-conscious viewers may take issue with the "nothing's too good for me" attitude. The sales process is shown from the perspective of staff members, who often talk about their tricks for sealing sales deals.
  • Violence:

    Not an issue.
  • Sex:

    Not an issue.
  • Language:

    Not an issue.
  • Consumerism:

No obvious commercial tactics, but the Kleinfeld bridal store and its staff get buckets of publicity and PR from the show.
  • Drinking, drugs, & smoking:

    Not an issue.

What Parents Need to Know

About Say Yes to the Dress

Parents need to know that the brides-to-be in this reality show sometimes come across as selfish, spoiled, and materialistic. They're often shopping on an unrestricted budget, so frugal viewers may be turned off by the brides' nonchalant attitude about hefty price tags. Staff members describe the sales process from their point of view, talking about their tactics for steering customers toward a particular dress or making a sale official. Brides-to-be may enjoy this series -- and might possibly spot their own dream gown onscreen -- but it's a sleeper for just about anyone else.

so i am fashion obsessed and this show is really appealing to me. nothing isnt kid appropriate. BUT if i could say something about this review... whoever wrote this whole 'message' section of this must have been high. I just think that, uh, not everyone of these brides is self obsessed. I MEAN THEY'RE GETTING READY FOR THEIR OWN WEDDING FOR HEAVANS SAKE!!! R THEY SUPPOSED TO B ALL "I DONT CARE WHAT I LOOK LIKE FOR THE BIGGEST EVENT OF MY LIFE...I CAN LOOK LIKE AN UGLY SLOB THAT HAS NO SENSE OF FASHION EVEN THOUGH I AM GONNA HAVE MY PICTURE TAKEN BY TONS OF PPL THE DAY I WEAR THE DRESS..." seriously keep opinians like that to urself

    I laughed and learned

I was flipping through the channels and came across this show. I couldn't turn it off. Loved every moment of it. The idea of a bridal show that is not about the crazy brides like that show on WE is great. The fact that it focused on the dress first then showed us the brides and the women who work in the store was very watchable. I can't wait to see it next Friday.
