Why We Rated This on for Ages 13 and Up

The good stuff

  • Messages:

The show sends the message that regardless of how much parents might bicker -- and children get on their nerves -- their love for their kids and each other never falters. That said, sometimes the parents mock their kids (particularly the one who gets good grades), and some characters make stereotypical jokes/comments about the show's homosexual supporting characters.

What to watch out for

  • Violence:

    Not an issue.
  • Sex:

Relatively mild sexual innuendo between the show's married parents, who have an active sex life. Some jokes based on stereotypical sexual fantasies.
  • Language:

    Mild: "jackass," "crap," "damn," etc.
  • Consumerism:

    Not an issue.
  • Drinking, drugs, & smoking:

    Not an issue.

What Parents Need to Know

About Still Standing

Parents need to know that the mom and dad in this sitcom keep the laughs coming by butting heads and reining in their three unruly kids. While they portray a seemingly typical couple -- and the family's underlying relationships are strong -- they get away with a lot more sarcasm and fun-poking than the average husband and wife. Some stereotypical jokes about the lesbian couple that lives next door.

Families Can Talk About

  • Families can talk about disagreements. Why is it important to treat family members and others with respect when ironing out differences? How can parents help kids understand that just because they argue doesn't mean they don't love each other? Can people be angry with each other and love each other at the same time?

    My concerns are:
    • Inappropriate sexual content
    • Inappropriate language

    • My highlights are:
    • Positive messages

Like the rating TV-PG-D-L, the problem is mostly about sexual dialogue and language. But I love the message of it, it's about family love...

    ALRIGHT SHOW, KIND OF INAPROPRIATE

This is a pretty good show. There are a lot of laughs, but sometimes it is inapropriate. There is one thing CSM did not warn parents about: The 4 or 5 episodes only about gays!(women and men) its just gross. And, there is one episode that makes fun of Jesus that is jjust so offensive. So watch out for that. Recommended ages 14+ PS= If you like Still Standing, then you mustThe King of Queens
