Common Sense Note
Parents need to know that the series has a historical fascination with war and weapons, but no violence really comes of it. Overall, the show will appeal to kids who have a taste for adventure. Some decent educational content enriches the program.
Families can talk about how history is shaped by a series of events. How will our actions affect our history and that of our children? For kids compelled to know more about the historical events from the series, try a trip to the library or a (supervised) Internet search.
Common Sense Review

Based on Jon Scieszka's books, TIME WARP TRIO follows three boys from Brooklyn who encounter a book that transports them through time and back again. Though they aren't entirely certain how to use the book, it seems the book knows precisely how to use them -- by dumping them in the middle of historical events.
This alone makes for decent plot. Add Napoleon Bonaparte, Genghis Kahn, Emily Roebling, or Thutmose III to the mix, and you've got very decent viewing. Other action cartoons lack what Time Warp Triohas in spades: substance.
Joe, Sam, and Fred also encounter their great-granddaughters during their travels. Jodie, Samantha, and Freddi materialize as the boys' peers, which lends a bit of comedy to the situation. Though some scenes can cater to boys' fascination with weapons, most of the action is related to historical events.
Time Warp Trio viewers might be inspired to pick up a book to learn more about the historical figures featured here. Or they may want to check out the Time Warp Trio books themselves. Hey, if a television show inspires a trip to the library -- all the better.
