What Parents Need to Know
About Unfabulous
Parents need to know that this show, while it has its share of questionable influences, represents a fairly realistic portrayal of life through the eyes of a junior high student -- including awkward moments that are so huge that they're overwhelming. The main character is introspective and artistic, while her peers think only about dating (one goes out with high-school guys), kissing, and how they appear to others.

Families Can Talk About
- Families can talk about the messages in the show. Are they mixed, or do tweens feel represented by this character? What are the benefits of having a variety of friends with different interests? Is the sibling relationship typical?

A Fun Show
This is a good show for kids over the age of 7. Many of the episodes are about dating or Girlfriends and Boyfriends, which is why it is not one of my favorite shows. Although there are still plenty of episodes that are fun to watch.

One of the BEST!
This show is one of the finest productions ever put on television for teens. One episode in particular took 1st Corinthians 13 and applied it (without quoting) to the lead character's relationship to her boyfriend. She systematically violated the principles (in order) - and lost him. When she came to her senses, and applied the principles, she gained him back. It goes to show, you don't have to quote the Bible to illustrate it powerfully. I personally know one of the stars of the show - Malese Jow - who plays Geena, and she is one of the strongest Christian young ladies you could hope to meet. And she knows good and well that she is helping to produce Christ honoring television.
