Why We Rated This iffy for Ages 13–15

The good stuff

  • Messages:

The series is more sensational than educational, but it does offer some explanations about animal behavior and the various ways that people have managed to survive attacks.

What to watch out for

  • Violence:

Includes real video footage of animals chasing, biting, stomping, kicking, and holding humans down. Victims can sometimes be heard screaming. Open/bloody wounds, scars, and other injuries are sometimes visible.
  • Sex:

    Not an issue.
  • Language:

Frightened bystanders let slip with the occasional "hell" or "damn."
  • Consumerism:

    Not an issue.
  • Drinking, drugs, & smoking:

    Not an issue.

What Parents Need to Know

About Untamed and Uncut

Parents need to know that this intense series features videos of violent encounters between animals and people. Its primary focus is sensationalizing both the animals' aggressive behavior and their victims' efforts to survive the attack by replaying (sometimes in slow motion) the actual moments when people were grabbed, bitten, stomped, etc. Viewers will hear screams from victims and frightened bystanders, and bloody wounds are sometimes visible. It's all probably a bit too much for younger and/or more sensitive viewers.

Families Can Talk About

  • Families can talk about whether it's OK for the media to use violent and/or scary events to entertain audiences. Is it appropriate to show people getting attacked or hurt by animals (or humans), even if the victims survived the encounter? What kind of messages about animals do shows like this one send? Families can also discuss animal behavior. Why is it important to understand animals' behavior? How do animals defend themselves and their territories? Why do domesticated animals like dogs and horses sometimes behave violently? Should people have wild animals as pets?

i hate this show so very much, it isn't educational or funny. it sucks dont ever watch it! first of all they repeat things 500 times and dont show you what happens and in the end nothing ever does happen exept for people getting killed and hurt but only sometimes. but im suprised animal planet showed this concerning how they are supposed to love animals and they have rodeos and ppl catching sharks.and the graphics they show are terrible they cant even show what an elephants leg looks like! they make the animals look so deformed like they're trying to be rude! and to top that all of they say stuff like "the bear was feeling threatened so it accidentaly attacked" like the viewers will beleive that it was an accident! its not ok to just say stuff like that and not expect ppl to turn their tv's off! and when they say that stuff you can see that it was the persons fault for being stupid and it seems like they're blaming the animal!

THIS IS THE WORST SHOW EVER!

This is worst freaking show i've ever laid my eyes on. It pissed me off so bad it forced me to write this review. The thing about this show that pisses me off the most is that they stretch the show on so long! They repeat the clip like 50 times before you can even see what happens! And then when they put the witnesses on the show, they don't give you ANY background information! ALL THEY DO IS REPEAT WHAT HAPPENED AS SLOWLY AS THEY POSSIBLY CAN! THEY JUST KEEP REPEATING AND REPEATING EVERYTHING FOR TWO COMMERCIAL BREAKS AND THEN THEY TELL YOU WHAT HAPPENED! AND IF ANYTHING IT IS NOT VIOLENT ENOUGH BECAUSE IN THE END EVERYBODY ENDS UP LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED TO THEM! BY THE TIME THE ONE HOUR SHOW ENDS THEY HAVE ONLY COVERED LIKE THREE TOPICS BECAUSE THEY STRETCH EACH TOPIC ON FOR TWENTY MINUTES! I BET IF I EDITED THE SHOW, I COULD MAKE THE SHOW BE THIRTY MINUTES LONG AND COVER ALL OF THE TOPICS WITHOUT PISSING PEOPLE OFF! DON'T EVER WATCH THIS SHOW, IT WILL PISS YOU OFF!

I like this show, but the little ones are more likely to hate it

I really like this show. It is really fun, cool, and exiting. The only thing that concerns me is the violence. Even though I like this show, the little ones may hate it and can't handle it. Please don't show this to your young children. The TV-14 rating is right, and your children will get scared. But if you're at least 13 years old then it should be alright. And this is a real good show. I give it a 13+. But if you don't get scared alot, then I guess you can watch it under 13 years of age. I watched it at age 12, but thats because I was able to handle it. After you watch it for a while it's not even scary at all. To me, this show isn't even scary. And this show does give you a good message: You should never do stupid things like stick your hand in a bear cage.
