Busy mom's life is dramatic, but reality is iffy.

Why We Rated This iffy for Ages 12–18

What to watch out for

  • Messages:

The series spotlights a hard-working mom who strives to balance her family and professional lives. But the bounty hunters are often judgmental in their off-handed remarks about criminals -- calling them idiots, for example -- and criminals are sometimes verbally belligerent to the officials.
  • Violence:

The bounty hunters draw guns when pursuing criminals. Arrests have the potential for scuffles when subjects resist.
  • Sex:

Sandra makes mild flirtatious moves on her husband, like pinching his butt. She also talks about how she uses her body (with "boobs hanging out") to trick some of her subjects (especially men) into trusting her when she's undercover.
  • Language:

"Damn" is infrequent; words like "f--k" are bleeped.
  • Consumerism:

    Not an issue.
  • Drinking, drugs, & smoking:

People in the background are sometimes shown smoking.

What Parents Need to Know

About Wife, Mom, Bounty Hunter

Parents need to know that the stars of this reality show are professional bounty hunters who track down wanted criminals. When they make an arrest, they wear bullet-proof vests and approach with guns drawn, since there's always the potential for things to get physical. Emotional family drama also gets air time, and since no one seems bothered by the cameras recording their tears (when a beloved pet dies, for example) or happiness, viewers are left wondering whether the scenes are at least partially contrived. Although the show strives to highlight the general struggles of working moms who balance family and career, it mostly just offers an opportunity for one working mom to pat herself on the back for jobs well done.

Families Can Talk About

  • Families can talk about how their own life compares to what they see on TV. Kids: Do your parents work outside the home? Does that complicate aspects of family life? How? How does your family balance time together with job demands? Do you think home-based reality shows like this one give an accurate glimpse of real life? Are sitcoms and drama series any better? Love the show

I think its a great show with a lot of action. I love how the show both shows the personal and work life of Sandra. This show is both entertaining and fun to watch! They should have season 2!

    Trash

This show stinks. Sandra has a big head, as does her daughter, which at 15, has bleached hair, tattoo on her butt, and is dating. What is this parent thinking? Not to mention the attitude to go with it. Again, next to Dog the Bounty Hunter, this show is wasting my time and hers.
