What parents need to know

Parents need to know that the lively characters in this animated series will captivate young viewers -- especially boys -- with their daredevil stunts. Important lessons in honesty, persistence, and friendship are reiterated throughout each episode, but kids will be so busy enjoying the show's action that they won't realize that they're learning, too. The absence of controversial content coupled with clever humor (like when one vehicle makes himself overheat to avoid a test in school the next day) makes it appealing on many levels and to several age groups.

Educational value: Kids will learn about important personal and social skills like being a good friend and taking responsibility for your actions.
Positive messages: Lessons in responsibility, dependability, honesty, and friendship are integral to the series.
Positive role models: Adult characters are knowledgeable, patient, and encouraging with the younger group. Friends support one another and share their feelings openly. Female characters hold their own among the boys in school and at play.
Violence & scariness: Animated vehicles sometimes crush inanimate cars -- nothing upsetting.
Sexy stuff: Not applicable.

Consumerism: Not applicable.
Drinking, drugs, & smoking: Not applicable.

What to talk about

Talk to your kids
  • Families can talk about being a good friend. How do Meteor and his friends show their support for one another?

  • Why is friendship important, especially during difficult times? What does it mean to be a good friend?

  • What's so appealing about cars and trucks as characters? Why do your kids like Meteor and his pals?

What's the story?

What's the story?

BIGFOOT PRESENTS: METEOR AND THE MIGHTY MONSTER TRUCKS revolves around a group of young, big-wheeled buddies on their way to becoming the next generation of car-crushing monster trucks. Led by a space-age moon-buggy named Meteor (voiced by Cameron Ansell), the clan consists of a diverse vehicular cast, including Jose the fire engine (Mitchell Eisner), Junkboy the garbage hauler (Cliff Saunders), and Ponytail the pink (but definitely not delicate) truck (Taija Isen). Also hanging in there with his friends is Little Tow (Scott McCord), who moved to Crushington Park when his dad, Bigfoot, retired from the monster truck circuit. When they're not at school perfecting their jumps or working on their obstacle course time trials, Meteor and his friends enjoy doing what most kids do -- getting dirty. They spend much of their free time off-roading, spinning doughnuts in the mud before heading to the Gunk Busters wash station for a squeaky clean shower.

Is it any good?

Is it any good?

The brightly animated series Bigfoot Presents: Meteor and the Mighty Monster Trucks is full of high-flying action that young viewers will love. Luckily for parents, it's also packed with the kinds of positive messages and constructive content that kids need. The good-natured buddies enjoy a strong friendship based on mutual respect and open discussions about their feelings. For example, in one episode, Meteor learned the importance of being responsible when he let having fun distract him from his promise to buy tickets for his friends to see their idol, The Crushmeister (Cal Dodd), in action. His honesty with them was a reminder that they had played a role in his procrastination, too, and needed to accept part of the blame.

Meteor and the Mighty Monster Trucks will entertain its youngest viewers with bright, engaging animation and high-flying stunts. And older kids will find lots to smile about thanks to the show's clever humor and relatable storylines, which feature issues involving school and friends. Fun stunts and positive messages combine to make this one to add to kids' watch list.

Needs to be on more!
This show is awsome. My son is 2 1/2 and was telling his cat "this new monster truck show is way cool". I wish it was on On Demand.

Neat Show!
FINALLY!!! Some ACTIONY (non-violent) programming on Preschooler Television!!! Franny's Feet, Squirrel Boy, Viva Pinata, and Hip Hop Harry were just appetizers, Meteor and the Mighty Monster Trucks is the main course in 2006 kids' programming. To me, sick days are NEVER complete without Meteor, WAY TO GO!!!

Great show for both young and young at heart
This is a great show. My 2 1/2 year old son loves monster trucks so this show is Perfect for him. It teaches sharing respect and many other important life lessons while still being entertaining. Adults can also watch without being bored. Thanks for a great show.

Yeah, FINALLY!!
I have twin boys that are just about 3 and obsessed with monster trucks. I am so thrilled with this program. We have TiVo'd the 3 episodes my husband found on at 5am and they watch them over and over. Great lessons and fabulous characters. I have never seen our boys so captivated by a program before.

Great learning for young boys, and maybe girls
We're raising my grandson who is 3. We have made a commitment to avoid shows that are violent, have language or show bad behavior. We came across this show a couple of weeks ago and our grandson wants to watch it over and over again. The great thing is we believe it is a show that keeps his attention and teaches very good lessons. He is asking about Bigfoot/Meteor toys (hint hint). I highly recommend this to all children who love cars and/or trucks, and want their children to learn good lessons (sharing, etc.).

A Wonderful Show for Young Viewers
Well, I have twin nephews who are both 3 years old and they love Monster Trucks. When Bigfoot Presents came out, my mother was thrilled about it and taped it for my nephews. They love it very much. I love it as well and I'm 20 years old. It's funny, it's sad, it's wonderful, beautiful animation and the characters are all absolutely lovable. If you loved watching Cars, then this is definitely the right show for you and your child to watch. The fun in this show never ends. ^_^

Great Kids Show
The show is very entertaining for young kids and fits in with th epopularity of CARS. Th eepisodes are short but well produced and contain great messages.

Impressive
My 2-year-old son absolutely loves trucks. I came across the show when flipping channels one morning and at first glance I thought, Oh no! Now he'll want to see this instead of a more educational show. As I watched with him, I soon realized the show has much more substance to it. It's very entertaining but it focuses on social skills like teamwork, respect and friendship.

Upset show was taken off air
My son absolutely loves this show and now will no longer see it except from our dvr. we recorded 20 episodes in the last 2 wks. unfortunately Hasbro wants to sell more toys so they took off educational shows to air shows that they sell toys of. My son is heartbroken . will it air on another channel?
