Parents need to know that this reality series -- which follows a blended family for whom wrestling is a family business -- includes some language ("damn," "crap," with stronger words bleeped) and underage drinking by a college student. The six children are technically adults, but many of them exhibit immature behavior. There are lots of pro-wrestling scenes in which participants are thrown, slapped, and pinned as part of the performance. Parents may want to remind kids that wrestling stunts should never be attempted without the supervision of a professional.
Positive messages:The series focuses on family, but many of the Bussey kids are immature and lazy, and they're sometimes shown arguing with each other. Mom Cheryl keeps the family together, but she constantly complains about Michael not paying attention to her. The Busseys are Christian and are seen praying together.
Violence:Features wrestling matches in which contenders are hit, thrown, and pinned. Some wrestlers smash chairs, guitars, and other objects on their opponents' head. These moves are done by trained professionals and don't cause any real harm. Some bickering/fighting between the kids.
Sex:Ring girls dressed in suggestive clothing are occasionally seen during matches. Cheryl Bussey refers to them as "slutty."
Language:Audible language includes "ass" and "crap." Stronger words (like "f--k" and "s--t") are bleeped.
Consumerism:The series is a promotional vehicle for PCW Wrestling.
Drinking, drugs, & smoking:Visible consumption of alcohol; the Busseys' underage son drinks with his college buddies and is often too hung-over to go to class.

I think that this family is trying to pursue the American Dream of having their own family business. They all are involved and are trying to make it work, no matter what it takes. As in life no one is perfect and this family seems to be true and genuine. The Bussey family seems to care and truely love eachother, which is the most important thing in life. Wrestling is physical and that is this family's business, so one needs to reiterate that to their kids.
TLC really disappointed me with this show. Leave the wrestling related shows to VH-1. At least they had someone famous. There is absolutely nothing to be learned from The Learning Channel this time. I already knew that wrestling fans and people in that business were crude and boorish. The Busseys only serve to confirm that fact. Which begs the question, why? Why would TLC waste air time on this obnoxious bunch?
