What parents need to know

Parents need to know that this animated series based on The Cat in the Hat's Learning Library book series introduces preschoolers to basic scientific concepts and exploration of the natural world. Kids will follow the discovery process from a question through gathering clues and finally to a conclusion, and the topics will inspire their own curiosity about what they observe in the world around them.

  • The series answers questions about natural science in a kid-friendly way. Kids learn about the seasons, animal behavior, habitats, and more.
  • The show encourages kids' curiosity about the natural world, showing them the wonder of exploration and discovery.
  • All of the characters are inquisitive and enthusiastic about learning. The Cat is known for being mischievous, but he's much more about teaching here.
  • Not applicable.

What's the story?

Dr. Seuss’s famous feline sets aside his mischievous ways to teach kids about science, nature, and the thrill of exploring the world around them when he returns to the screen in THE CAT IN THE HAT KNOWS A LOT ABOUT THAT. In each story, Cat (voiced by Martin Short) and his friends Nick (Jacob Euwanik) and Sally (Alexa Torrington) identify a science-related question and start following clues to find an answer. Of course their travels aren’t without unexpected twists and turns, especially when Thing 1 and Thing 2 tag along for the ride.

Is it any good?

Science class has never been as much fun for kids as it is with the Cat in the Hat leading the charge -- he makes it a joy to learn. With his guidance, kids are introduced to concepts like migration, animal classification, and nocturnal behavior, and the characters approach the discovery process with enthusiasm as they piece together clues that will lead them to the answers to their questions.

The great news is that kids will be so absorbed by the Cat’s antics and gadgets -- including a shrinkamadoodle and bigamabooble that let the characters change size at will to better explore even the smallest nook and cranny -- that they won’t even mind that they're watching "educational" TV.

Great show for preschoolers and early grade schoolers
One of the few shows my four year old and six 1/2 yr old agree on. As an added perk, it seems to have driven a fascination with my youngest for his Dr. Seuss books, particularly Cat in the Hat. Catchy music, great themes, lots of info, and funny too.

Don't watch this show!
this show is not educational, because the cat uses words that aren't real words, it has bad grammar, and kids might start to use this weird words. It is a very pointless tv show for kids. don't watch it!

Nothing like the books, lame, sexualized, annoying
Sally and Nick are obviously having a coed sleepover. In Sally's room, there is a sleeping bag. NOT a good message for young kids or even some teens and Tweens! Also, the moms live together as if they or their kids are married! Disgusting! If you want to know more about science, Read a book. This is not educational. The cat uses words like bestest which aren't words. To me, this is worse than shows like Secret life of an American Teenager because it was aimed at innocent little preschoolers!

My 4 year old don't miss this show. Cat in the Hat book is his favorite, i can read if for ever and he wants again and again. He loves the show. It is a little bit fast and the noises sometimes are annoying for me, but I try to keep myself entertained as see him jumping and learning stuff

Creepy
This it the worst show in the history of...EVER. Dont watch this show. All they do is go off with some creepy cat dude in a red thingamabob to a weird place where they dont use there brains. Bad grammer, weird voices and in one episode they met a camel and they kept on talking about her 'hump"." you got the hump just right". "Hop on the hump". My hump carries food". Like seriously what are they trying to do. Educate four year olds in sex ed. Wow. Now im going to pass it on to my friend. I love animals friend comment: This show is inappropriate for young children, cuz there is violent pushing, they mention words that you would use in sex ed like"hump" and the main charecters go off with a creepy man that they don't even know! and their parents let them go with a frigin' scary stranger!!!!! I love animals: NEVER watch this show EVER.

Please stop running this show.
This remotely educational show replaced the highly educational Sid, the Science Kid time slot in my area. The voice acting is rather grating and annoying for the main characters while their journeys are always to made up lands presumably solely for the sake of rhyming. The educational aspects are usually so brief that if you blink you will miss them. While I enjoy the comic stylings of Martin Short, good Lord I cannot stand his voice in this series. I will usually not let my daughter watch this simply because I find it annoying and not educational. This is a pity as Dr. Suess' books always encouraged imagination while still focusing on education.
