Perfect for 16+
I absolutely adore this show myself, and so does my oldest (17). It's a brainy show, but only for the older ones. It's a little violent, pretty gory too as they show murder, homicide, suicide, very touchy subjects. A lot of the times, the show includes sex, incest, rape as a part of the crime. It's not okay for the young ones, but I'm sure the teens will enjoy it!

Depends on the person
This show is for more mentally mature teenagers who know better than to take this show completely seriously. The show can get violent and bloody, but the characters are good. It makes you think.

Not for Children!
I love the show. But in would never let my child watch it! Talk about taking away your child's innocence! Any parent who let's their child watch this is giving in to media pressures. I notice that most of the reviews are from children and teens. They should not be the ones to say! Parents, wake up!

Dont let your kids watch it
Criminal minds is usually on late at night, its not on the air for kids. Parents should be able to control what their kids watch anyhow, so if you dont want your kids watching it then turn the channel dont take it off the air!

For mature teenagers
Obviously you wouldn't show this to your young seven year old child. No one does that. You shouldn't show your child crime shows, period. However, once they reach a certain age (high school) it's okay to let them watch some stuff, just to let them get a taste of the real world. Yes, this show can be very disturbing at times, but it is also very fascinating and the characters are all very brave and loyal to each other. I used to hate crime shows because of the violence and the scary plotlines, but now I realize I have to face my fears, and I'm glad I have. The show can be very depressing, but what crime show isn't? This stuff probably won't ever actually happen to you, and it's important to keep that in mind while watching. If you are mature enough to handle it, go ahead, it's a great show.

Great for tweens and teens
I was appalled when I saw the age rating for this show. While certain episodes are violent, the show overall I’d say is good for 11 and up. I have been watching since 12. Many of the crimes are very brutal, but there aren’t many graphic scenes. The main characters are good, clean agents and good almost always triumphs. There is some swearing, but not so much that it’s a problem. I think this show will get kids interested in profiling, and considering law enforcement as a job.

Ok for older teens... just have to make the decision based on YOUR child
I actually like the Show Criminal Minds... yes, while it is true that some of the incidents they investigate are violent... and that is concerning... I watch WITH the kids and we talk about the different personalities of the members of the BAU... and the struggles they go thru personally (Hoch) -- My kids love Dr. Reid... and there are some strong positive role models for women... the women in the show are both sensitive, kind, and yet strong and resilient and powerful when they need to be... Also, it shows how a 'boss' can be... like sometimes Hoch is stern with Garcia, etc. So it shows intensity and also they joke.. and my kids laugh... I love the show personally.. my kids like the show a lot... but aren't keen on watching re runs... but i'll watch them!

Extremely disturbing Show. Despite being very violent its still one of my favourite tv shows! Many references to sexual intercourse and many decaputated bodies. Might not be suitable for those under 15.

amazing for the mature and strong-stomach
CM is the best show on tv.(well crime show)it shows how real the world is.my little sis(8)always says"when i grow up ima be just like Reid"that show made me want to take a psychology class in college.the role models are great.ive been hooked since i was 9 and i cant wait until september 2010 for the new season!!!!(just dont watch if you have a weak stomach)i love kaykayd's review btw

Awesome show... Kinda intense.
Okay, can be very intense. I like the whole intellectual nature of it, though. My grandparents think it's going a little too far and dislike some of the recent episodes, But I like that the team really works together and has a kind of family dynamic. The idea that you need each other to get through the tough times.

Oh my God, what is this author's problem? This show's even better than Law and Order! And that's saying something.

great for tweens and up
I love this show have watched since it first came on when i was about 8 or 9 ( guessing from number of seasons) it is my favorite show and has amazing role models the women are strong and can handle themselves. The men act like gentle men. I want to be just like all of them when i am older when i go to college i already plan on becoming a criminologist thanks criminal minds ! although every other victim is sexually abused and maybe a little inapropriate unless your kids are like me and have been watching csi all their lives. but other than the rape and murder the show is smart a few jokes are thrown in there

Smart, Clever, and educational?
This Show is a smart show, but can also be quite disturbing, several episodes, for realism, include children both as victims and offender, the murder portrayals can also be quite vicious. But the use of profiling the suspect to convict him/her is quite interesting and might spark an interest into psychology for your children, it is much better than most of the drivel on tv, mainly MTV, and this coming from a teenager. Verdict is great for teens, but not so much for younger ones, and can possibly spark an educational interest in your children.

Wouldn't recommend for anyone under the age of 12!
I LOVE this show! It is one of my favorite shows! I started watching it when I was 15 and I was HOOKED! I wouldn't recommend it to kids under 12. It all depends on the maturity level and tolerance of your kids. If they are very prone to nightmares and the like, definitely wait on it! If they're like I was and not easily scared, they could be okay. It has a lot of violence and other creepy and some very taboo issues. If your kids are more on the tween side, make sure to talk to them about what they have seen and answer any questions they might have about any of the issues. They need to know that many of the issues and stuff are REAL, but the cases are a combination of old FBI cases. The writers combine them to protect the identities of anyone involved in the cases. So, elements of the cases are true, just not in the EXACT way it happened.

Very Intense but good
I started watching this show a couple months before I turned 15. I have a very strong stomach so I can handle most of the stuff they show. It is a very intense show. Most teens probably couldn't watch it unless they are mature enough. It can be funny but that is very rare. it deals with the minds of serial killers and some of them can get pretty gory. it is not uncommon for there to be pools of blood or dismembered body parts. I personally love this show. but at times I can get a little paranoid from some of the people (especially when they don't catch the guy). There is a lot of sexual talk because that is some of the Serial killers motives. I would say show is for mature 15 year olds. as long as you can handle the intense nature.

"Mom, I want to grow up and be just like Hotch!"
My husband, my kids, and I watch this show all the time. We really enjoy seeing the team work together to catch someone. My kids have said many times "I want to grow up and be just like J.J." or "I'm going to work really hard so I can be the boss of a great team like Agent Hotchner." I really like the show and I tihnk it really gives you a good look at some of the darker sides of our reality.

Deserves more than two stars!
I personally adore this show! The characters are just show awesome and the way they all work together to solve these crazy, shocking crimes is fantastic. Yes, Criminal Minds doesn't really hold back on the gore(tamer than what you'd see on CSI though). Probably the worst/goriest episodes for me were when they showed severed heads(eww) yeah...they don't hold back much, but if you look past that, it is NOT like most police procedurals out there! Instead of focusing on the crime, they focus on the Criminal. they get inside their mind and make a profile for them, to predict their next move and to save the next victim. Good mostly triumphs evil in this show, though unfortunately, it takes a few victims to make that happen. all in all, The team is full of highly intelligent people, who you will love! Fantastic show, love it!
