What's the story?

Renowned inventor Dean Kamen, best-known as the creator of the Segway scooter, is the host for this expedition to the most cutting-edge of scientific achievements. Along with correspondent Joanne Colan, they visit advanced research labs to learn about bionic limbs, artificial intelligence, microscopic robots and many other amazing projects currently under
development. Many of these inventions would have seemed completely
impossible only a few years ago, but are now completely in the grasp of
human engineers, demonstrating how the range of scientific achievements
is progressing by leaps and bounds.

Is it any good?

DEAN OF INVENTION is like a field trip to the future. The inventions seen here may one day seem commonplace, but today they seem just short of magic. Kamen and Colan are excellent companions as they explain how these things work and why they are important -- they make the seemingly impossible come across as well within the grasp of modern scientists. It’s fascinating and fun, and might even inspire a few young viewers to become inventors.
