What parents need to know

Parents need to know that this reality series featuring actor Terry Crews, his wife, and family is full of positive messages about marriage, parenthood, and family with subtle references to God and Christianity. Positive messages: Family, marriage, and hands-on parenting are all major themes here. Christianity, faith, and prayer are an important part of the family’s lifestyle.

Violence: People are shown firing rifles at a shooting range. Young children occasionally argue and push each other.
Sex: One storyline centers on Crews’ eldest daughter’s boyfriend. One adult daughter is pregnant. Rebecca’s professional acting sometimes includes kissing male actors.
Language: Not applicable.
Consumerism: Los Angeles area stores like Gianttis and locations like Stone Manor are visible. Expensive cars (Audi, BMW) are visible, but the logos are not prominently displayed.
Drinking, drugs, & smoking: Social drinking (beer, wine, champagne) is occasionally visible.

What to talk about

Talk to your kids

Families can talk about why celebrity families agree to appear in reality shows. What makes their lives entertaining enough for a television series? Do you think they behave the same as when the cameras aren’t there? Why or why not?

What's the story?

What's the story?

THE FAMILY CREWS is a reality series that follows the daily antics of Everybody Hates Chris star Terry Crews, his wife Rebecca, and their children: Naomi, Azriel, Terra, Wynfrey, and their only son, 3-year-old Isaiah. While renewing his vows with his wife of 20 years or taking his kids to school, Crews shares his insights about being a husband and father while juggling an acting career.

Is it any good?

Is it any good?

Like the sitcom that he stars in, Crews takes a humorous approach when talking about his relationship with his wife and children. There are some serious moments, too, especially when the family faces potential crises thanks to wildfires and their kids' sometimes rebellious ways.

It’s all pretty mild, and like many reality shows of this kind, some of the scenes seem a little staged. The Cosby-like family also comes off a little too perfect at times. But this doesn’t take away from the strong positive messages it offers about marriage, parenthood, and family.

spiritually connected
My family and I love this show. I am glad to see a couple that know the importance of spiritual values. Rebecca reminds me of myself as a wife and mother. She prays for her family when she gets up in the morning- the only way to start your day. Terry plays a loving and supportive husband and father. Sometimes the mother is the one to spend the majority of the time with the children' it is great to see Terry taking the kids to school and spending quality time with them. It seems as thought this family has their priorities in place.

something to watch
I like it. It is another good reality show to watch.

Taking it up a notch
I love the show, however, would like for them to take the time to do Winnie's and the sister next to her hair. I like the show because it appears real with real issues, responses and family unity topped with love. I feel strongly about the her hair because the stylist are taking the time to make sure the mom's hair is on point but hers is not.
