Leno takes late-night entertainment into prime time.

Why We Rated This iffy for Ages 13–15

The good stuff

  • Role models:

Leno is a friendly and classy host with an accesible sense of a humor. Not that he won't take a jab at someone when the occasion (or his script) demands, of course.

What to watch out for

  • Messages:

Although the series pokes fun at current events and popular celebs, politicians, and others in the media spotlight, the jokes aren't intended to be mean-spirited.
  • Violence:

Some humorous, generally mild references to violence, mostly as they relate to the day's current events.
  • Sex:

Some strong sexual innuendo, including references to S&M and use of terms like “ramrod." Occasionally, sex scandals and other current events are discussed.
  • Language:

Words like “damn” and “hell” are audible.
  • Consumerism:

The series is a promotional vehicle for comedians, musicians, actors, and other performers.
  • Drinking, drugs, & smoking:

    Occasional references to drinking.

What Parents Need to Know

About The Jay Leno Show

Parents need to know that this prime time talk show/comedy series features all the traditional segments of similar late-night shows, from celebrity interviews to silly skits. Much of the humor is derived from current events, and, as a result, includes a fair bit of sexual content (including references to S&M and homosexuality) and occasional mild references to violence and alcohol consumption. Teens may not be wild about Leno’s sketches but may find the celebrity interviews and musical performances entertaining.

  2. I rate this title on for age 14 and give it 2.0

Didn't laugh at all, stale. Same old schtick. Not sure what is so "new" about this show. Interviews are pretty good, but they don't make up for some very bad pre-filmed bits. Really bad comedy, just plain sad really.

I rate this title on for age 14 and give it 3.0
    My concerns are:
    • Inappropriate sexual content

    Good performances

I like the guests and Leno, but I just didn't laugh much.
