Parents need to know that the comedy is centered around a married couple and their problems, often sexual. Sarcastic humor is used as their primary form of communication and will be lost on younger kids. Teens might be bored since Doug and Carrie have no kids in the house.
Positive messages:Heavy sarcasm between the married couple and with Arthur; Doug wants to get his hair cut all the time by his hot stylist; Carrie takes pole dancing to liven up their marriage.
King of Queens is an excellent show! It centers on a couple (Doug and Carrie) who live life struggling with different situations and conflicts. The characters are absolutely hysterical and the plots are imaginative and clever. There are some jokes centered around Doug's obesity. Words, like "b*tch" and "ass" are used every so often between characters. Doug can make very wrong choices, but it is usually resolved in the end and the couple usually end up forgiving each other. Carrie can also be a bit of a jerk at times and is very sarcastic towards others. Arthur (Carrie's father) is obnoxious and constantly shouts. Lies told between characters are usually discovered in the end and there are a few lessons to be learned. There are a few sex-related episodes, as well. Lastly, it's a pretty clever and funny show.
Good old sitcoms for families with kids at least 11
+Doug is a walking joke
+don't have to see the first episode to
know the storyline
-sexual content galore
-some moms won't appreciate this show
giving "the Talk" before the parent
has chance to give it
I love this show. Kevin James is hilarious and I like the old man. I forgot his name. There could just be some innapropriate things like this one episode were they meet strippers or something. I wasn't really paying attention. 8 or 9+
This is one of my favorite shows. Little kids might be bored with it, but I find it hilarious. I can't believe they would rate this 13+. Common sense media has some issues.
There is pretty much NOTHING wrong with this show in my opinion! I'm pretty sure some people would be offended by the sexual stuff, because they do talk about sex every once in a while, but only on occasion. However I think it's nothing kids aren't used to hearing and will proably be over their heads anyways. Parents should probably watch it with the kids, but I personally have never NOT laughed during a single episode. Oh and another thing, I'm surprised this site didn't put violence as an issue because Carrie always gives dug tiddy twisters and punches his arm! :]:]
