What parents need to know

Parents need to know that this cartoon's frantic pace and flashy visual images won't do grade schoolers' attention span any favors -- and they make it virtually impossible for younger kids to follow the thin stories. There's also a fair amount of cartoon violence (collisions with heavy objects, laser blasts, etc.), but its unrealistic nature and lack of resulting injury keep it light and non-threatening to youngsters. While the show centers on the main characters' ongoing quest for evil infamy, the stories are silly enough that kids won't be fazed by that aspect of the content, either.

Educational value: The show isn't intended to be educational, just entertaining.
Positive messages: There's no real attempt to teach specific positive messages. None of the main characters' rather iffy behavior results in realistic
consequences (though the outcome is often, contrary to their hopes,
positive). For example, their attempt to rob a bank is foiled by their
accidental capture of a big-time thief.
Positive role models: The main characters are all technically "bad guys" who come up with plenty of nefarious plans, but their schemes often end up causing good instead. Kids are often portrayed as
spoiled and demanding; in one segment, for example, a whiny young girl
cons her dad into giving her a prototype superhero suit.
Violence & scariness: Lots of typical consequence-free cartoon violence, including collisions, people getting crushed by slamming doors, long falls, and firepower.
Sexy stuff: Some female characters have voluptuous curves and large breasts, wear short skirts, and talk flirtatiously with men to manipulate them.
Language: No cursing, but some characters occasionally use "butt" -- as in a young girl's declaration that she will "kick the butt" of anyone who tries to carry out evil plans.
Consumerism: Not applicable.
Drinking, drugs, & smoking: Not applicable.

What to talk about

Talk to your kids
  • Families can talk about the media's messages about crime and criminals. Kids: What did you think about the characters' actions in this show? How would you compare them to real-life crimes? How do their consequences (or lack thereof) compare to those in the real world?
  • Do you think shows like this make too little of iffy behavior? Why or why not?
  • What other shows have you seen that put a funny spin on people doing wrong? How do those stories compare to the ones here?

What's the story?

What's the story?
In THE LEAGUE OF SUPER EVIL, a motley crew of villains cooks up schemes to assert dominance over their neighborhood. Under the direction of the diminutive but diabolical Supreme Commander Voltar (voiced by Scott McNeil), team members Doktor Frogg (Lee Tockar), Red Menace (Colin Murdock), and the unpredictable pooch Doomageddon plot against everyone from police officers to the pizza boy. But somehow their maniacal plans never turn out as they expect, and they're left to revisit the drawing board time after time.

Is it any good?

Is it any good?

This animated series turns the tables on traditional superhero shows by making the protagonists a group of not-so-evil bad guys whose plans are always foiled by bad luck or their own incompetence. The concept's not a poor one, and the show keeps the content -- and the unavoidable cartoon violence -- so light that kids aren't likely to mistake the crew's intentions as truly evil.

Unfortunately, the series' pace is so chaotic and the sensory impression so overwhelming with lightning-quick scene changes and Voltar's constant yelling that it actually does kids a disservice. There's little developing plot to test their attention spans, and the show makes no attempts to promote any concrete positive messages. The bottom line? This fast-paced show is fine for occasional viewing, but there are plenty of other choices with more substance out there for kids.

A Pretty Good Show
The League of Super Evil is a funny, enjoyable show, although I don't reccomend it for anyone under 8 because there are bad messages in it. Kids shouldn't be exposed to lots of criminal comedy. It puts bad ideas in their heads. The messages aren't SUPER bad, but their not the best. Anyways, it's a pretty funny show.

Cute Show
I do like this show. I enjoy drawing the characters. :D However, sometimes the jokes & comedy can be a little cheesey. I'd say this is good for kids, but don't let them get too drawn into it. The character's actions might have a negavite influence on your kids.

I ABSOLUTLY HATE IT!!!!!!!!!! Worst show in all of history! When I saw it I felt like throwing up!

Whats wrong with people?
Look people, its simple. Its supposed to be FUNNY... Btw, where do you guys find sexual content? Show me somthing that kids should not see, and I might reconsider that statement.

League of Super Evil is the best. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
Come on people, League of Super Evil was intended for general audiences to amuse both parent and children, so i would highly recommend it for families. As a mother of three children. Also my autistic my son has never been so lively or receptive to any other show than LOSE. Also, I have began to draw these guys and it has been a life saver for me and my art.
