This show might be useful for anyone traveling to such remote locations, but most of the footage focuses on Myke putting his wife down and treating her like a child. He is misogynistic and extremely sexist and I would not reccomend this show to younger viewers. If you watch it with your kids make sure to talk about how it's not appropriate for anyone to treat anyone else like Myke treats his wife. He says he's protecting her, but I'll bet she would be able to survive without him. Shame on the show's writers and editors for making her look stupid.
PERFECT FOR TEENS AND ALL ADULTS WHO CARE ABOUT THEIR SURVIVAL!!!
I think any of us who have never had to survive on our own can learn so much from this show. They are truly an authentic couple out in a survival situation. He is so patient with her who is truly a person with little knowledge of how to survive in a survival situation. You know...I'm a woman of 72 years young. My husband and I have traveled to many places. The survival techniques I have learned from Man - Woman will be very useful if I ever need it. How to build a shelter, build a fire, hunt food and look for water. We have enjoyed this show so much.. Hope it will be on again. We love both of them. LOVE THE SHOW. I think Ruth is such a wonderful lady and he is such a gentle gentleman with her...BRAVO!!!
We
A very well-created survival show that teaches not only how to survive in various wildernesses, but also teaches equality and teamwork skills. Some people think this show is sexist becuase Mkye just happens to know more about survival than Ruth. But in reality, Myke is there to teach Ruth how to survive. Thats what the show is really based off of (the intro to the show says it all). There is no sexism going on in this show, they both work together as a great team and never put eachother down if one makes a mistake.
I watch this with my 14 year old daughter and my 24 year old daughter and we LOVE IT! It is fascinating and educational and it is one of the few shows we watch together.
Myke and Ruth are an exemplary couple.... they are respectful of each other... Mike is always protective and puts her safely and well-being alwasy ahead of his own. She is incredibly proud of his skills and knowlege (as she should be!) and she is alwasy positive and inquisitive and gives 100%.
I think their love of each other and their complete cooperation and teamwork together is EXEMPLARY! How anyone could complain about anything in this show seems beyond me???
I've never watched MAn vs Wild because it isn't interesting.... sure, men like physical challenges... but it doens't engage me at all.
This show is different!!! I can relate to Ruth and like to picture myself in her situation- I'm sure I could never measure up her No-whining, stay positive, try to learn something new everyday attititude.
I don't think anyone under 13 would be particularly interested in this show but there is no reason any age couldn't watch it!
WATCH ONE EPISODE and you'll be hooked.
Love the show, want to see lot's of new episodes!!!
My husband and I love this show. We DVR all the episodes, and watch them all the time. We would love to see some new episodes. Please Please Please! We have not only learned alot about servival, but also how important we are to each other. It's a great show for all ages. I can relate to Ruth, I see myself in so many things she does. All thru the show my husband is like ---- that's you baby. Thanks to Mike, Ruth, and all who make the show a sucesses. (BUT WE NEED MORE!!!!!)
Thanks for letting us be a small part of you're lives.

My little girl watches this with her dad, and then they play "Man Woman Wild." She's pretty sensitive to scary things, but she seems to understand the concept of preparing to avoid and react to real dangers. Although the husband, trained in survival, generally leads, in the second season he seems to take more suggestions from Ruth, and they always work as a team. The wife is resilient, smart and brave, and this show is a far cry from most representations of women on TV.
I watch the show with my boys, ages 8 and 11, along with other similar type shows, we enjoy the teaching aspect of the show. Myke is teaching his wife useful skills and she puts her two cents in, when she feels the need or wants to. The boys (and my husband)and I agree with Ruth about the drinking of urine, yucky! has nothing to do with "girlie issues" it was just plan yucky!

We appreciate this show as something we can watch together as a family. My 4 year-old loves it and wants to go into the wild and catch her own food and survive when she gets older.
works for all ages just be the parent and explain as you should !
I think this shows how two people working together can make anything work as long all parties try and do there part not just in a survival situation but in there marriage. yes mykel is in charge most of the time but he is the one with the training for this situation I am sure if ruth was the one with the survival training she would be in charge. The program just shows the grit that goes into survival.
I watched a couple of these episodes and found that it just didn't have the same zing of other survival shows. I realize that these individuals receive outside help from the camera crew and such, but I feel this show makes it too obvious. I believe that because a woman is on the show that more luxuries are taken. They already enter into the wild with fully sharpened machetes for example. Anyhow the dynamics between husband and wife can get heated especially when Ruth doesn't do what Myke wants. Overall, it's an okay show.
