Parents need to know that main character Bessie (played by Saturday Night Live star Amy Poehler) is a high-strung, extremely energetic 9-year-old whose over-the-top behavior is intended to get a laugh out of young viewers. She always manages to get her way by pestering both the kids and adults around her, including her mother -- who never seems able to resist her daughter's relentless persistence -- and her adoring younger brother, who bows to Bessie's every whim despite her dismissive attitude toward him. Bessie's total focus on doing whatever it takes to earn merit badges means that her social relationships with other people take a backseat to friendships with her dog and an imaginary friend drawn on her finger. Bessie ostensibly learns a mild lesson in each episode, but this chaotic, colorful 'toon is clearly meant to entertain rather than educate.
Positive messages:Frequent potty humor (burping, vomiting). Adult role models are scarce, and Bessie's mom often caves to her daughter's relentless pestering. Bessie has few close friendships with kids, focusing instead on her dog, an imaginary friend she draws on her finger, and her adoring younger brother, whose presence she claims to loathe. Some of the other girls are condescending/mean to Bessie, and some ethnic stereotypes are played up for laughs -- albeit in a good-humored way. On the plus side, Bessie is passionately dedicated to being a scout and works tirelessly toward her badge goals. She also manages to learn a few lessons about understanding others -- though it's debatable how long they'll stick.
Violence & scariness:Some slapstick cartoon violence exaggerated for humor -- long falls, collisions, and the like. Injuries are short-lived.
It's bad! For that, Besty in the show is annoying, in one episode, she wuz annoying saying "Birthday-birthday cake!" and some sex saying food loving Ben, and bad role models, and Besty's behvior is highly-annoying!
My daughter loves it but it has alot of burping and farting and nasty stuff like that. It has alot of talk about groos stuff but for the most part its an alright show. No great role models. Adults are Ok with their behavior and there really isnt a clear mesasage. Just a show "trying" to be cute There is alot of rude behavior towards each other. I dont enjoy Giana watching it but i dont have it blocked on my TV either.
..........................Zib is NOT amused............
Ok, Not as annoying as Spongebob, But it's not funny. It really emphsises on the stupid humor, it's the only crutch you can lean on.
~InvaderZib~ (THE ALIEN LOVE CHILD!)
This is fun for both kids and adults--certainly low content for violence and bad language. There is some juvenile "picking on" but this is reality and the heroine Bessie usually gets her way and generally comes across as a good role mode..
A strong show with problems that's not always needed
This show has so much potential, but this show was almost crass, the animation is faulty at times (almost as bad as SBSP), the crude humor is terribly old and disgusting, and worst of all....the voice acting and characters. I don't hate Bessie and her friends, but I was disappointed with the show and I really wanted it to be good, but the producers should've put more time and effort on this and sure why not? For anyone else, just watch something else than this.
Not as annoying as that aweful annoying spongebob beast on nick.
Ok, Not as annoying as that aweful annoying Spongebob beast on Nickelodeon, But it's not funny. It really emphsises on the stupid humor, it's the only crutch you can lean on. I can't believe her mother lets her run around San Francisco. Sure she's in a neighborhood where she knows everybody, still, bunch of wackos out there. She's a really strange girl, I admire that, but she talks and argues with her finger.. she's mean to her brother who looks up to her, and their mother is hardly there, strangely enough, her mother is my favorite character. That annoying girl (Gaby?) which is 'Bessie's best friend' constantly switches sides from Porsha to Bessie (MAKE UP YOUR MIND) Porsha's annoying, but for some reason I like her, and her friend. Porsha's mother picks favorites horribly. Happy is a dog that sneaks out and plays 'pocker' or however you spell it, with his buddies, and growls randomly sometimes. Bessie over reacts and spits. But even though all of that gets on one's nerves, I would still say its just a mild show. Its all crappy.
I hated the show at first, but it grew on me, because it is pretty funny. They make a few references to products such as "Pepto Dismal" on a play of "Pepto Bismal". Its a pretty good show, but I'm sure few people watch it.

This is really a fine show, but parents should know that this is not an innocent kids show just because they put a girl in it. bessie is a horrible role model. so is her mom, and brother. also there can be some family issues in this show because there is no dad, and the mom never pays any attention to her children. in the first episode the dog turns into a bizarre rat that creeped out my soon to be ten year old brother. can be strange and weird. its too over the top!
I am not taking this too seriously but I just don't like this show at all. It's strange how bessie always has a face drawn on her finger and plays and talks too it all the time and her finger never even talks. Then she Jams her finger into her nose and picks it and picks it all the time! WTF I always barf when I see people pick their noses! All she named her finger was finger which would be a very dull name to call your finger. Horrible messages.
