***SLIGHT SPOILER ALERT***
Naruto shippuden is a tv show that succeeds the hugely popular anime, Naruto.
It is about a orange-clad, fun-loving ninja who is a jinchuuriki (container) of the nine tailed demon fox, and for this, many ostracize and fear him. His quest is to become hokage, the ruler of his villiage, so that people will respect and see him for who he is, not what he contains.
Shippuden is set several years after the original series, and so many of the characters have matured, as well as many new developments in the series.
Shippuden has a darker, more serious plot as the series progresses.
If you are watching the english subbed episodes, which I personally would rate 13+, you should be aware that shippuden has more swearing than before, with occasional uses of b*stard and d*mn as well as blood. If your child is watching the dubbed episodes on disney channel, most swearing, violence and blood has been edited out, so if your child is young, the dubbed episodes on disney are suggested.
There is also a lot of killing and death, although not gory or too violent. There are a lot of fights and moderate violence to be aware of.
The show has beautifully developed characters, and has good morals. Friendship, teamwork, and love play a great part in the series development. Naruto won't let his friends get hurt, and refuses to give up on his old friend, Sasuke, after he defected from konoha.
Naruto also never gives up on anything, but persues it to the end.
There are some references to smoking and drinking, as one ninja is often seen smoking and sake is mentioned once in a while.
In my opinion, Naruto is an amazing series, some parts leaving you laugh, cry, or feel so many different emotions. You can really relate to some of the characters, and sympathise with them. I would rate the subbed episodes 13+, but Naruto Shippuden is a great show that deserves the hype is has recieved.
I would reccomend watching the first series beforehand as it wil help you get a full understanding of the plot and characters.
I hope you enjoy watching Naruto far more than you have enjoyed reading my first anime review.
