my daughter is 12 and half. my hushand and i watched 2 shows. we like it for us. Parents view the show is good. For my 12 yr old not so much! Too much sex and drugs. Crouchless panties, bongs for pot, condoms, showing people having sex in bed.... not for 12 or 13 in my opionin.
ok well we watched my first show of this last night and we sure did love it it was evey thing we had hoped for and more and that is saying alot cause we usualy do not like stuff like that but we loved this and as for content i think as long as you know your self and your kid you and your child should be fine to watch together as a family because it truely is a family show so expect them to act like just that a family they fight then make up then fight agin sound familur to you but the child may need to be a little a bit older just so they can under stand the story more properly
OK show for adults to watch who know right from wrong. Terrible show for kids to watch....sex, drugs and all around adult content. It should be PG-13 at the very least.
I really liked the movie "Parenthood" so was looking forward to watching this tv series. What a let down. This is a Drama with a capital "D". There is virtually no levity, other than the seeming expectation of laughing at adults smoking pot at school or some such trite and adolescent humor. And I am so disappointed that this show is not at all appropriate to watch with my 13-year-old. How is this program not rated PG-13? There's just too much language, sex, drugs and all-around serious adult themes for youngsters. While it does have good productions values such as quality acting and directing, it's just a bummer and a bore!
I think it is a wonderful drama but would not feel comfortable letting children under the age of 15 or 16 watch it for language, drug use and sexual content. But for my husband and I, its great!
Great show to discuss around the office water cooler
If you watched Gilmore Girls with your child, then this is like the next level, in terms of age-appropriateness. I think there could be a lot of great discussion. I'm a teacher, and we talk about it in the lunchroom - I'm surprised there's no mention from the website about having a character with Autism. Brings an interesting complexity to the issues parents deal with.
