Parents need to know that this reality series shows real women doing police work, which means they encounter criminals, drug dealing, domestic disputes, and people on the edges of society. The language is raw, and includes words like "ass" and "piss," though the occasional "f--k" is bleeped. Arrestees are occasionally partially (or completely) undressed, though all sensitive parts (and often faces) are blurred. Expect some tense/violent scenes and rough talk (sometimes by the police women themselves).
Positive messages:There is a strong law enforcement message: crime is bad, cops are good. Lots of the crime the officers encounter involves drugs and illegal immigration.
Positive role models:The women say repeatedly that by doing their jobs they want to help make their world better
for their kids and for the rest of the community. However, they do tend
toward a tough attitude -- one that is appropriate for their
work, but nonetheless, it might be off-putting to some. That said, the women are doing their jobs and using their gifts in a pretty mean, nasty world.
Violence:There are lots of guns drawn, occasional shootings, and plenty of physical struggles during arrests. Calls sometimes involve domestic violence.
Sex:Occasional references or encounters with prostitution.
Language:"Ass" and "piss" is heard fairly regularly. Stronger language is bleeped, although you can often figure what is being said.
I think this show is very good, and the police women are really good role models. It is a little iffy for me to watch, just because most of the things that they arrest people for are drugs. Also, it is even more iffy sometimes when the arrest has something to do with prostitution. Overall, I think this show would be good for ages 14+.
