Parents need to know that this cartoon -- which was inspired by a much-more-innocent 1970s Hanna-Barbera show -- is meant for a mature audience. It includes edgy jokes about the overweight, people with mental illness, sex, criminal activity, radiation and cancer, drinking and drugs, and a host of other titillating subjects. Episodes often involve violence, such as when a monster attacks the compound and kills most of the crew. Most of the violence is off screen, but descriptions of blood and gore are vivid.
Positive messages:Characters are nasty to each other. Violence is used to solve conflict.
Violence:Frequent cartoon violence. For example, one episode shows a bird violently attacking a grasshopper.
Sex:Some references to sex and sexual issues, like virginity.
Language:Occasional "ass" and some derogatory terms like "sissy" and "cream puff."
Back in the day of Ren & Stimpy, this used to play on daytime CN. Standards have gotten more strict. The show plays on Adult Swim now. It's actually rather tame, other then some cartoon violence and occasional mild language a little intense for under 8, but neither I haven't seen on daytime CN today.
My son and I watch this show on Comcast On Demand Together and we both think it is halarious. This show is great for all ages but is a little complacated. I think it should be rated G. This show rocks. Language- not a problem at all. And the violence is cartoon violence. No sexual content at all. It is just a great show for all ages. I think it should be on cartoon network instead of Adult Swim, because it is a show this is appropreate for all ages, sort of like Tom and Jerry...
