Very safe for children old enough to be interested in it.
Alien monsters and violence might be a bit much for younger kids. It is fundamentally a military-friendly show and has some messages that some will find objectionable. Overall, the violence isn't intense, there is relatively little reference to sex, the language is okay, the role models are positive, and messages generally revolve around treating people fairly.

Adventure in the Pegasus Galaxy.
Stargate: Atlantis is a worthy spin-off of Stargate SG-1. Another series that tickles the imagination and provides quality entertainment. Has been picked up for a fourth season on the SciFi Channel, with SG-1 alum Samantha Carter (Amanda Tapping) reporting for duty in Atlantis.

Not as good as SG-1.
A good stand-alone show, but more enjoyable if you are a fan of Stargate SG-1. As with most spin-offs, Atlantis is not as good as the original.

stick with the original
A bit more violent that original SG, has more disturbing monsters, and has unpleasant levels of politically "correct" notions.

14+ only. There are some serious blood issues in sns 4-5
In general, Team work abounds, and there are a lot of prominent female leads. Women are often better than men at science type things. There are many bloody scenes in the last two seasons. This is definitely for older children.

A Must Watch!
This is the best TV show which I have ever seen. Just sad that they stopped filming it. There is a lot of violence but it is not gruesome. These creatures feed off of your and it is pretty creepy, but there is not much blood (almost none at all.) It has a great story line and it has positive role modeling. This is a must watch and at the end you will be wishing there was still more.

Stargate Atlantis: a nice switch from StarTrek
This show needs to be carefully watched. I saw it streaming and skipped quite a few episodes and many more scenes because of the violence. If there are no guns in the scene,it is a visually pleasing adventure with characters who make you laugh and smile. I love the realness of the characters. People who are slightly misfit seem to fit on Atlantis. Many strong women characters who are smart, fun, empathetic, caring, adventurous adorn this show. This show is not for everyone. I have never seen a more visually beautiful tv show, but then again I don't really watch much tv.

My favorite show!
I'm serious this show is the best, you know those shows where all the characters just feel like a family? Yeah this is one of them. My favourite character has to be Rodney McKay, he is super ego all around hilarious guy with his soft spots. Other characters include Ronan Dex (Jason Momoa), Rodney Mckay (David Hewlett), Samantha Carter (Amanda Tapping), and also another fan fave Carson Beckett (Paul McGillion). This T.V. show, as you might know has been cancelled, but the show lives on!
