What parents need to know

Parents need to know that this series can be eerie and suspenseful, which may be too much for young kids who are easily spooked. Kids who like mild scariness and a good ghost story will be intrigued. Main characters use the scientific method to uncover their school's mysteries, which is a good example for young viewers.

Positive messages: One African-American character appears; the rest of the cast is white.
Violence & scariness: Although no direct violence occurs, adults can definitely seem threatening.
Sexy stuff: Not applicable.
Language: Not applicable.
Consumerism: Not applicable.
Drinking, drugs, & smoking: Not applicable.

What to talk about

Talk to your kids
Families can talk about the concept of reality and fantasy and the characters'. Do the students make good decisions with their knowledge or abuse their powers? What appeals to kids about the show -- mystery or science? Parents can encourage kids to continue their love of strange stories with a trip to the library or a (supervised) Internet search about the history and happenings of their own school or town.

What's the story?

What's the story?

Things like wormholes, time travel, students becoming invisible, and inexplicable magnetic attractions are everyday occurrences in STRANGE DAYS AT BLAKE HOLSEY HIGH. Luckily, the students in the show's science club use the scientific method to investigate the mysterious happenings. But the science club at Blake Holsey High (nicknamed "Black Hole High" by the students) doesn't limit itself to test tubes and Bunsen burners. New girl Josie (Emma Taylor-Isherwood), popular Vaughn (Robert Clark), conspiracy buff Lucas (Michael Seater), type-A Corrine (Shadia Simmons), whiz kid Marshall (Noah Reid), and their advisor, Professor Z (Jeffrey Douglas), discover that their prep school is some sort of magnet for paranormal occurrences and mysterious strangers with secrets and hidden agendas. All the strange happenings seem to be connected to a local scientist named Victor (who just happens to be Vaughn's father) and his company, Pearadyne Industries, where Vaughn's mother disappeared in a strange accident 15 years ago.

Is it any good?

Is it any good?

The series makes an attempt to bring in scientific concepts (magnetism, gravity, the light spectrum, etc.), but the show's real attraction is its spooky sense of mystery. The characterization isn't incredibly deep, and the kids seem more or less interchangeable. But there's plenty of action to keep viewers involved, and a lot to wonder about. What is Victor really up to? What's the strange floating ball that seems to be the source of his power? How does the janitor know so much about what's going on, and why won't he explain anything?

Good for 5th-8th Graders.
First of all they are not good role models because they break rules alot also Josey is not very organized But I found that this show helped me study for my Scientific Process test

I was flipping thru the channels an dstarted watching and have been since...Its good for kids who have a hard time with science because they may seem to remeber such things from the show. It always a mystery show for those like me who like a little mystery.

Perfect for all ages. Educational.
When this show was on, I used to watch every episode! And I have found it on the web so I am watching it again! It never gets old and it's very educational. Best show ever made if you ask me. <3

Science that's fun
Blake Holsey High is my children's favorite TV show on Discovery channel. We love how science is mixed with a mystery and my children enjoy learning about each new topic from "camouflage" to "tesaracs" and more. It allows my children to think on a new level and have fun getting to know the characters and allows us to discuss many different character issues.

Strange Days @ Blabe Hosley High review
Strange Days at Blake Hosley High is an awsome show.I started watching it one day and me and my brother liked the show. From wormholes to timewarping Strange Days at Blake Hosley High has got it all.

Just started watching, and am probably hooked.
I only first saw this show two days ago, but as it was a marathon, I think my judgement is all right. I really enjoy this show. Sure, it's a bit cheesy, and riddled with forced learning, but it's FUN cheesy! Despite the episodic happenings and nondepthful approach, there seems to be a mystery behind everything, an explanation, which appeals to me. (See Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events). Vaughn is especially interesting, because people find him suspicious - his father is Professor Pearson, who seems to be thought the cause of all the strangeness. Is Vaughn evil? Is he manipulated? Is he nothing at all? I don't know! When I saw this show for the first time, I thought it was The Zack Files undergone a strange and revolutionary metamorphosis. Nope, but it's a lot the same.

Mysteries, Cover-ups, Black Holes: whats not to love?
SSABBH has recently become my favorite show of all time. You will find yourself mesmerized by the troubles that Josie, Corrine, Lucas, Vaughn, Marshal, and Professor Z get into in each episode. You will have trouble waiting for the next episode, I know I did.

must see
this is an excelent show and there is going to be a movie on the 28 of the month! i'm watching the marathon right now!!!!
