Parents need to know that this series picks up right where the first two Terminator movies left off, centering on the never-ending conflict between Sarah Connor and her son and the indestructible robotic assassins that want to kill them. There's plenty of action, including car chases, explosions, fistfights, and gunfights. But it's not just mindless violence; because the show focuses on Sarah's efforts to protect her son at all costs (so he can grow up to lead the human resistance), it has a strong narrative framework to support all the smash-'em-up scenes. Plus, with her take-no-prisoners attitude, Sarah is one of Hollywood's most interesting female characters; here, she's joined by Cameron, a tough female terminator. By contrast, teenage John is still unformed, and, though earnest, he can also be rash and immature. This series, as the name says, is all about the women.
Positive messages:Sarah Connor and her son, John, are fighting to prevent a future apocalypse that nobody else really believes will happen, and they're willing to break the law to accomplish their ends if necessary. Those ends could include murdering people to prevent them from inventing dangerous machines, stealing to support their guerilla efforts, or robbing a bank. The Connors are fugitives, forced to live underground using fake identities and fake papers and often must lie to the authorities who think their wild tales of unstoppable machines are simply symptoms of mental illness. The show features two strong female characters.
Violence:The Terminators are plenty tough, and it gets pretty rough when two machines go at it. Expect some serious brawling, shown in explicit detail -- though, since they're indestructible, there isn't much gore. When humans take on the Terminators, expect lots of big explosions as they try bigger and bigger guns, usually with little effect -- and sometimes followed by the unnerving sight of a robotic skeleton rising from the wreckage of a blast that seems like it could have destroyed anything. When a Terminator has the upper hand, it's ruthless and aggressive, killing quickly and efficiently, and leaving corpses in its wake, sometimes in a bloody mess. Some of the robots' wounds appear bloody temporarily, but they don't feel pain.
Sex:No sex, but teen John Connor certainly seems to have some chemistry with his attractive robotic protector, Cameron (and she shows a little bit of cyborg skin, but nothing sensitive). Characters sometimes travel through time and must be completely naked for the trip, but there's no explicit nudity.
Language:Includes words like "hell," "crap," "whore," and "bitch."
Consumerism:Part of the successful Terminator movie franchise.

Okay if you're watching with your teen
My thirteen year old daughter began tuning into this old series after watching an episode with her dad. I watched a few prior to letting her continue to view them. My main concern was that they're pretty violent. There always seems to be a murder, gunshot wound, etc. It's sometimes peppered with a bit of colorful language, but I wasn't overly offended. It's very much a futuristic sci-fi show and that's the sole reason I've given it the go-ahead, despite the violence. It's not remotely realistic and I think a teen can easily discern that. Thankfully there were only a few seasons made!
I started watching this show expecting nothing less than a bunch of random, cool-looking violence. Just like in the Terminator movies. But what I found was an interesting drama that deals more with family than fighting. Parents, there's no nudity, and the violence/gore isn't very detailed, as its mostly robots fighting, and they don't have blood. Check this show out, but don't expect it to be like any of the Terminator movies.
its dumb!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love termiator 1-3 but the series is stupid. i mean whats up with come with me if you want to live say it like a terminator i mean look at the girl terinator in terminator 3. you have no filing be a termiator i mean i love the movies its dumb OK
This show is a MUST SEE for fans of the Terminator series, and any other action movies :D It had well placed humor, great action, and an amazing cast. Heck, its a must see for any teen.
This is way too violent for 8 pm, but it's basically true to the spirit of the movies. Yes, this ignores the 3rd movie, but this is time travel. This can be a continuously changing reality.
I would have liked to see more of a connection with the movies character-wise. Sarah's boyfriend looks like the bad guy in T2 (also in the xfiles). Why not get the real actor? What's he doing these days? Why not get the Sarah from T2?
A good show, but I don't know how they'll make it a series
I have never seen a terminator movie, the only things I know about them are what the robots look like and Arnold S. (can't spell last name) is in them. However, I still find myself liking this show. It is full of action and tends to have a lot of drama. It has some good humor (especially when Cameron tries to act like a human and have human emotions, yeah right!) However, I don't know how the people making the show will turn it into a series. Unless they add a lot of unneeded plot twists that nobody will remember in the end, this show could be over by the end of season one. Pretty much the whole plot is killing anybody involved with Skynet (the place where the evil machines are built), trying to stop any machines from being made, fighting any machines already created, and of course, training John to be a future hero. I believe it will be good for awhile, but that it will eventually get repetive when the writers can't think up anything else new.
This show is AWSOME. I cant get over how much i love this show. The first season is over, and im dying for the next to come out. Its VERY close to the movies, and it was made by the guys that did the movies. Also, theyre doing something ive been dreaming of. Theyre ignoring the 3rd movie, pretending it never happened, and tying the series in with the 4th movie. Id say this is a must see for any Terminator fan. Or anyone whos a fan of action movies. ; )
O ya, and im not 12 anymore, im 13. This stupid thing wont update my age. So, i say this is ok for 13 and up.
