What's It About?

CORKBOARDME is a virtual corkboard that allows users to create sticky notes filled with different types of information. Notes can contain simple to-do lists, jotted ideas, or become more complex with photos and attached files. Billed as "simple, collaborative notetaking," CorkboardMe also lets users share their boards with chosen peers, who can post new notes to the board, erase or add content, and even chat in real time.

Is It Any Good?

Our review:

Kids say ( 1 ):

CorkboardMe isn't revolutionary, but it's a neat way to organize information and bring the sticky note into the 21st century. It was created for anyone to use, from businesses wanting to create a virtual conference room to single users just hoping to remember the milk. The site is pretty minimalist, but the graphics are crisp and the ability to add images or embed a site URL into a sticky note is a neat feature.

Unfortunately, the image and embedding features are only available with a paid account, making the free version limited to text. There's not a lot of guidance for use either (no text labels on various buttons), leaving it up to the user to figure out. Without a real help section to advise, some kids may have a hard time getting the hang of the features of CorkboardMe.

Talk to Your Kids About ...

  • Families could create a "family corkboard" where all members can add schedules and make notes; a little businesslike, but helpful in this over-scheduled world.

  • Kids can virtually share school assignments they're especially proud of with parents by posting them to a family corkboard.
