What parents need to know

Parents need to know that Hasbro's safe, fun online destination offers a huge range of games and videos for kids preschool age and up. Kids don't need to register to access the site's activities.

  • Not applicable.
  • The site's "Shop" section lists Hasbro products by age, gender, brand, and category, and includes links to HasbroToyShop.com and other retailers.

What's it about?

HASBRO.COM features videos, games, and other activities that are based on Hasbro toys and games (such as Monopoly and
Candy Land) or movies and TV shows for which Hasbro makes products
(like Star Wars). Kids can decorate cakes in the Easy-Bake Oven game and design cards with Hasbro characters in the print shop. A video gallery promotes movies and TV shows with Hasbro toy tie-ins. Purchasing opportunities are offered through a link to HasbroToyShop.com as well as "Buy now" buttons throughout the site. Two online channels -- MonkeyBarTV and MonkeyBarTV Jr -- house activities, respectively, for older kids and for kids 3 to 5.

Is it any good?

It's possible to tune out the purchasing ploys and enjoy the
site's games, which load quickly and are easy and fun to play. Move cautiously through the site's video and shopping sections, though. The Indiana Jones video
gallery features movie trailers and commercials for
movie merchandise, while the links to HasbroToyShop.com and other retailers are strictly for commerce. Still, it's a real joy for kids to see their toys come to life digitally and the range and variety of games will certainly entertain kids from preschool to elementary-age.

What families can talk about

Families can talk about how having fun doesn't necessarily have to involve buying a ton of games, dolls, or other toys. Is it OK to play games on a Web site that is trying to sell you things? Would that make you want to buy the company's toys?
