What Parents Need to Know

About DLTK Autumn Activities

Parents need to know that this activity resource site for parents and teachers isn't so much geared for kids -- although they'll reap the benefits from the many creative craft ideas. There is a section for games with a few educational gems, but several were not functioning at the time of this review. And, pop-up ads abound; banner ads run on the top and on the right side of the pages. That said, the crafts only require items you probably have lying around the house, and the terrific templates (customizable word finds, bingo cards, and memory games) sure are handy.

Families Can Talk About

  • Families can talk about how to manage pop-up ads when browsing through a Web site. Do you know that pop-up windows sometimes appear over the page you're looking at and some are opened and automatically minimized in their taskbar? Flashing buttons and animations may make clicking on ads tempting, but when should you? Families can show kids how to close pop-ups with the "x" in the right top corner.
