Perfect for middle schoolers.
I LOVED THIS BOOK. It's a story for kids throughout middle school i read it in my 8th grade year and i couldn't forget about it. During that year i was looking for books that really targeted my age, not book that involved 16-18 year olds, so when i found this book i was surprised, because not many books were like this. It really showed how growing up is and how middle school goes. It had a real life approach to it unlike some other book which made me love it. It also showed what was happening from both Julie's and Bryce's point of view so you can see how their feelings change. I would recommend this book to all kids in middle school, it's about crushes, rumors, and how things change, but it is told in a very real, almost old fashioned way. Its a very life changing book about how we see and treat others.

I simply love the book (the film, too). I like reading the same scenes from different points of views and seeing how Bryce sees some events in a completely different light. I guess you can really relate to the characters and that's what makes it so great. :-)

Amazing book. Absolutely love it and it teaches children to look at the mentally challenged as people and not "retards". Hilarious misconceptions between guys and gals. Adorable storyline. Great message: don't just fall for guys based on their looks. I read it in middle school and re-read it in high school. I just hate how Juli's family is "amazing" and Bryce's is "horrible" it makes the book too black and white.

perfect for tweens
I love this boook sooo much! The stroyline is great, and the only bad thing is a few times when someone swears. The characters aare friendly and it's a great story to read such as for a book club or other.

I really liked the book. My friend told me to read it and i enjoyed it very much. It's a really good book for pre-teens. The only thing I thought was bad was the band name. Also Juli's brothers and friends weren't the nicest and most charming people around. Beside that, Bryce's dad was kind of rude about Juli's home and family. I really loved the book. A fun and easy novel to read.

Horrible
It's a horrible and annoying book. The girl decides to tackle the new boy, she helps him CHEAT on a test, and she ATTACKS an obviously nice girl that the new boy is dating. And in the end, the boy falls in love with her for absolutley no reason.

Awesome book.
I read this and LOVED it! It has a bitter sweat ending though. The relationships in this book remind me of "A Midsummer Nights Dream".

good book

Great story about values and first love
Underneath the story of a budding tween love are lessons about values. We see the consequences of anger, pride, judgment, and discrimination. We see the benefits of forgiveness, open-mindedness, and love. And through the honest reflection of the two main characters we probably see ourselves. A great story to share with your tween - we listened to it as an audiobook in the car and talked about it.
