What parents need to know

Parents need to know that Camping Mama: Outdoor Adventures is the latest in the successful "Mama" franchise of mini-game compilations. This time, the mini-games take place outside at an exciting camp site. Players can fish, swim, climb rocks, and swing on vines with the use of simple, accessible controls. The mini-games test hand-eye coordination and as well as how fast the player is able to respond. In some of the mini-games, players can bump into things or hurt themselves if they make a mistake, but it's always in a cartoon fashion and not at all a focal point of the game.

  • This game encourages an active, outdoor lifestyle. Some of the mini-games in this title include activities like catching fish, climbing rocks, swimming, and exploring caves.
  • The main characters in this game, "Mama" and "Papa," provide players with words of encouragement.
  • The mini-games are designed to be as fun and accessible as possible. They generally involve swiping or tapping the screen with the stylus to complete an objective. Most players will be able to handle them with a little practice. The challenge comes in trying to continuously get a better score with each try. Aside from the mini-games, players are tasked with finding and collecting treasure throughout the camp site, which provides another ongoing challenge throughout the game.
  • In some of the mini-games, it is possible for players to run into walls, fall down, or get hit. If this happens there is a cartoon-like effect, but it is not possible for players to inflict violence on anyone else, and no one is ever shown with lasting injuries.

What's it about?

CAMPING MAMA: OUTDOOR ADVENTURES lets players explore a camp site filled with all sorts of activities. The variety of mini-games is vast and includes outdoor themes like spelunking, fishing, and rock climbing. Unlike previous "Mama" games, this one has a bit more structure to it in that players complete each mini-game in order to unlock new areas of the camp site. There are also things to do around the camp itself, like collect treasure and interact with other characters.

Is it any good?

Camping Mama: Outdoor Adventures follows in the footsteps of the fun and successful Cooking Mama titles with simple yet addicting mini-games. This set of games are all themed on outdoor/camping activities but the same formula of tapping and sliding the stylus on the touchscreen to correspond to on-screen commands is still here. The mini-games do a terrific job of finding the perfect balance of easy but challenging, which makes players want to play them over and over again. The treasure collecting aspect of the game is also a fun diversion and gives players something to do if they want to take a break from the mini-games. In short, this game is a lot of fun for casual gamers, and is suitable for Cooking Mama veterans and novices alike.
