Why We Rated This iffy for Ages 12–13

What to watch out for

  • Messages:

The protagonists are very wealthy thieves, but they're less odious than their opponents.
  • Violence:

Character has a heart attack, falls to ground, and is later shown in the hospital and in bed, suffering its effects; a minor earthquake disturbs hotel guests; during a labor protest in Mexico, demonstrators throw Molotov cocktails that set a truck on fire.
  • Sex:

Abigail wears tight dresses and shows cleavage; seduced by Linus, she begins to take off her clothes (you see her bra).
  • Language:

A few uses each of "s--t," "hell," "damn," "ass," and "son of a bitch."
  • Consumerism:

Samsung; plenty of places in Las Vegas are name checked.
  • Drinking, drugs, & smoking:

Occasional casual drinking (wine, beer, liquor, tequila); cigar-smoking; a pheromone-like drug is added to cologne to assist in a seduction; mention of Ritalin.

What Parents Need to Know

About Ocean's Thirteen

Parents need to know that there's nothing much different here than in the two previous Ocean's movies. Expect some language ("s--t" and "son of a bitch" are as bad as it gets), occasional scenes with drinking and cigar smoking, brief images of generalized violence (protesting workers clash with police and toss Molotov cocktails that set a car on fire; a mild earthquake shakes a hotel), and a seduction scene (aided by pheromone-spiked cologne) that includes heavy breathing, some clutching, and cleavage. As always, the "heroes" are handsome, charming criminals out to rob a less-sympathetic criminal.

Families Can Talk About

  • Families can talk about what makes these con men so appealing. Does it help that their adversaries are always so awful? And what makes the bad guys seem bad, anyway? What parts of the movie are references to the era of the Rat Pack's original Ocean's Eleven? Do you think this movie romanticizes that time period/style? How does this movie compare to its two predecessors? Do you think there should be any more Ocean's movies?

    Best Ever.

It's the best movie ever, and good for helping kids mature.

    Good Movie

Though it is complicated and would be way over the kiddies heads. Part of Breasts are exposed during a Seduceing scene. It is not that bad and gets interupted before anything else happens. There is gambling and plotting theft.

AWESOME! The Ocean Movies continue to deliver!

The movie was awesome. It was definitely complex, and you might need to watch it a couple times to understand how the heist actually worked, but it was GREAT! The language, alcohol, etc. didn't bother me, but the sexual content was definitely iffy. Parents: watch it before you show your kids. I think it was good for kids my age and up, but for people younger than me, I would screen it first. This was really an awesome movie though! I would absolutely suggest it!

    Better than the first?

I went into this movie with very low expectations due to the impression left upon me by the very slow not quite good enough to call good "Oceans 12". However, I quickly found that I was in for the shock of a lifetime. This movie was marvelous. I even heard someone venture to say that it is better than Clooney's version of Oceans 11. Is it true? I would have to say that its definately a close call, but no. It is, however, just as good as the first. Let's face it, what could be better than an original?

A GOOD spy movie with a different perspective

This Film may have the perspective of the bad guy and makes the people they are stilling from look like the bad, but most kids who want to see the movie will see right past the simplisity of the operation and realize that this is not normal or good behavior. The sex and alcohol consumption is something we have all seen and deffinintly heard about (Its vagas of course there is drinking). I seriouly dought that anyone even young childeren will be scard from this film. (11+). Great movie and realy kept me interested in just what they would do next.

    Fun stylistic entertainment

This movie is one of those that you really enjoy while you are watching it because of the plot and the film's style, but afterword you can't really recall much about it. Good throw-away entertainment.

    So Much Fun!

This is a great, silly, funny movie--just like the other two. A nice way to spend a couple of hours and hardly anything objectionable--not really a PG, but not really a PG-13, either.

My least favorite of the three

I found this movie to be a bit dull. It was slower and not as clever as the first two. There wasn't really anything all that objectionable about it, but I doubt my kids would enjoy it because of the pace and the complexity of the plot.
