What to watch out for

  • Messages:

Secret Service agents act courageously in the aftermath of a terrorist attack abroad. An American tourist bravely puts his life in danger to save a young girl. Although most of the movie's terrorists are Muslims from the Middle East, there are American ones, too.
  • Violence:

The U.S. president is shot at during a speech. Crowds of people die in an explosion set off by a terrorist; a suicide bomber detonates himself in the lobby of a hotel; terrorists kill several people execution-style and kidnap the president. A Cabinet member tries to force the president to bomb Morocco for harboring terrorists.
  • Sex:

A woman seems to be in a romantic embrace, but she's actually being handled roughly. She then kisses and hugs another man.
  • Language:

    Language includes `s--t,` `ass,` `bitch,` and `bulls--t.`
  • Consumerism:

Nothing overt, except for an obvious CNN-like news channel called `GNN.`
  • Drinking, drugs, & smoking:

The president is sedated so he can be kidnapped.

What Parents Need to Know

About Vantage Point

Parents need to know that some teens may be drawn to this political action adventure by its all-star cast of popular/award-wining actors (including Matthew Fox of Lost, Dennis Quaid, Sigourney Weaver, and Forest Whitaker). The film revolves around a terrorist attack on the U.S. president and features scenes of explosions killing a crowd of people, a suicide bomber detonating in a posh hotel's lobby, high-ranking officials being shot at execution-style, and other bloody deaths. Language includes words like "s--t" and "bitch"; it's worth noting that there's markedly less commercialism and drug/alcohol use than in comparable films.

    Boring for Younger Kids…

This is a great movie. It might not be too interesting for younger kids though. It has some pretty intense violence.

Think twice before letting your young kids watch this movie

Although I think this movie is okay, it's still definately not appropriate for kids under 13. It has excessive violence as well as strong language that young kids should not hear.

    Exciting :D

This was pretty interesting. The movie shows the point of view of about... 5 people. During each one, something more is revealed, so you never really know thee truth until the end. Yeah its a bout a terrorist plot to kill the president. Quite a few people are killed; and what seems like the perfect crime is a catastrophe, all because of a few people. Lots of shooting and dead people pops. Some cursing too. The president was interpreted as a good person, despite the fact Bush was in office back then... ANYWAYS... What I really loved was the ending newscast. "Authorities confirm the Lone Gunman has been shot and killed" Ring A Bell?!! So JFK!! I was just making a documentary on that so I was like 'Wow that was good!' Well yeah... Good Movie

    Very good.... but very violent

This movie was really good. It became a little annoying after watching the same scence like 8 times from different points of views. I heard many people in the movie theather groan when they would go to another point of view. All in all this movie was violent, not for children under 13. But it was a very true statement and with all of the fear of a terrorist attack, this movie rings true.

    ridiculous!

It shows you the vantage point of all the different actor, but it just dragged on. You discovered new things with the point of view, some important to the story other not, but not enough to play the same story over & over again. The end was horrible & I thought it made the terrorist seem as if they actually had a heart. Give me a break! The 'climax' was when the terrorist are faced w/ continuing to carry on their mission & life or to run over an innocent little girl of which they swerve to hit her killing on fo them and injuring the other. Not believeable considering the terrorist had already shot the president and detinated 2 bombs which killed innocent people including kids! SUCKED--LEFT DIRECTOR!

    Suspenseful, Heart-Stopping Pollitical Thriller

This was the most unique thriller I've ever seen. The movie barely ever makes it clear of who is one of the eight and who isn't, but it was a good idea to have a camera director start off the movie. Too violent and profane for kids under 11, but an excellent alternative to R-rated thrillers such as Michael Clayton.

    Ok, but very repetitive

Well, I rented this and it was pretty good. I didnt get what they ment by vantage point being the assassination in 8 POV's but overall pretty good. Some language, violence. Ok for 13 and up.

    Great for Adults

Beware this website's rating did not mention the F-word that was spoken during the movie (only once but...). I would not want my children to see this. If I ignored the language and very explicite violence, the plot and seeing the situation through the viewpoint of 8 different people was very interesting. I was on the edge of my seat. My mind was excited to see it again and again, with more details added each time.

One of the best movies ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Vantage Point is seriously one of the best movies ever. they make you think one thing and then, you find out that it was something completely different. I saw this movie once with my family who all loved it. Then I saw it again with my friends and they all hated it. i guess they got annoyed with the fact that they repeat the same events from different VANTAGE POINTS! thats the whole flippin' point!!!!!!!!! if you get annoyed with repetition, then you probably wouldn't enjoy this movie.

It's as they say, pretty violent. Kid under thirteen should not see it. they also, CS dose not tell you this, but they actually use one use of f--k. It can be understood because it is at a very tragic time. It is very, very, very violent. It is mostly about showing you what terrorist's trying to kill the president. There are lots and lots of dead bodies shown, but not that much blood.

    woohoo!!

This is a really good movie!! I know it says 14+, but thats because theres all this nutzo violence and stuff. oh, and dont forget the f-word. that was sort of uncomfortable with my dad sitting right there. But dont forget, we hear that stuff all the time at school. overall, vantage point was an exellent movie, and it has a good twist at the end.

    WORST MOVIE EVER

ok, let me just start off by saying that this movie is APPROPRIATE for anyone over about like 10. Actually its like one of the tamest action movies i've seen, not really any blood that much a few times but not that much, the only thing kids might get over whelmed by all the action but really it isnt that bad. Honestly though, dont see this movie. IT IS THE MOST PATHETIC ACTION MOVIE I HAVE EVER SEEN. basically its just the same story rewinding a gazillion times. After the 3rd rewind i was actually LAUGHING. it was that pathetic. worst movie ever.

Best Movie I've Seen All Year

This is without a doubt the best film I have seen all year long. It's got action, suspense, and a frightening plot. Violence is pretty extreme, but it is almost all completely bloodless. Language is almost non-existant as well until the end of the movie which contains repeated uses of "s--t" I think two uses of "Goddamn it" and one use of "f--k". I say suitable for those 15 and older.
